Another player the flames have been patient with developing, which seems to have paid off. Guy is an NHL player. Awesome.

People knock his skating but he’s 64 and 220. His agility and explosiveness (first 3 strides ) have really improved as of late. He moves pretty well for a big kid. He’s not as slow as some make him out to be. His form isn’t the most graceful but he’s getting good burst and top end speed generated with his hulking frame. This kid seems to have all the tools and the tool box. He could be a massive asset for us. Another fourth round gem from Todd , his grandmas favourite , button. Todd and co are quite the department compared to their contemporaries especially those from 3 hours up the road.

I have noticed him in deep by the net anD having no trouble skating back with the play when it goes the other way. He has a long wingspan and seems to use it well to lift sticks and protect the puck. I really hope he continues to develop and works his way in to a solid 3rd line C. I don't want to hope for more

I think the Flames scouting is definitely doing it's job. However even a blind squirrel finds a nut once is a while. Edmonton's record of futility points to their development system or complete lack thereof. If a prospect shows even a glimmer of skill he is thrust onto the big team to sink or swim and if he was drafted out of the first 2 rounds he is an after thought. Explains why the average age of their farm team is so high.

Andersson, Kylington, and Ruzicka are all players that were projected to be 1st round picks going into their draft years that the Flames manage to get and help develop past what caused them to fall.

Good signs for the amateur scouting team and development coaches.

Amazing. I had no idea that Ruzicka was ever projected that high.

The Kylington pick was one of my favorites of any draft in recent years, I really felt like he'd turn into something and was baffled he fell so much

it's still hilarious to me that 3 out of our top 4 D come from that draft in which we traded for Hamilton. Funny how these things turn out sometimes

Yup.

I remember getting to our pick at 53, and Kylington was still on the board, and I was really hoping they would take him.

But they chose Andersson and I was like: nooooooo

But then Kylington was still there 7 picks later, and the draft worked out fantastically.

Then he grabs Mangiapane in the 6th, just because, why not?

Great job, Mr Treliving

This is the Star Trek movie strategy of drafting. Odd = bad. Even = good.
