Servalli on 960 says the Flames were one of the teams that reached out on Brandon Hagel before the Toffoli trade.

Hawks asking price is a 1st plus top prospect.

Hagel attracting attention because teams are looking for the next Coleman or Goodrow and 2 more years at $1.5 million.

But they aren't in on him now, so holster those trade proposals everyone

Servalli says he doesn't think Flames are done and are poking around a few ideas. Probably going to wait and see how Toffoli fits in.

He wouldn't be surprised if they added a depth d-man. Flames hoping Valimaki could be that depth and return to pre-injury form. (I think Servalli is saying that the Flames are looking for depth because they have some concerns on whether Valimaki could seamlessly fill in for an injury)

Can't see it being much more than that, but you never know.
Article in the Athletic this morning has NHL execs saying he'll fetch a 3rd, probably not more.

Maybe a question for another thread but is anyone following how Valimaki has been in Stockton? I know he got hurt then suspended but when he has been on the ice, how he has looked?

Hagel would be fantastic, but he never entered my mind as far as being a player available for trade. He’s young, gritty, and really hitting his stride as an offensive player. Why would they even entertain trade offers, especially as a rebuilding team?

Another exec in the same article says Arizona is asking for a 3rd rounder for Kessel with half salary retained, and getting no takers.

I don't think the Flames need Kessel now. Different roles maybe.

Not suggesting they do. Just thought it was interesting how low his stock has sunk.

Yes, as his main attribute has dropped off a cliff this year.

Eric Engels on the Jeff Marek show mentioned he could still see Chiarot going to the Flames in a separate deal and thinks the Canadiens would be very interested in Dustin Wolf.

Ok....but where do the Flames shed the $3.5M to fit him in?

Doesn't make any sense, no.

I mean, it makes sense if you're a Montreal beat writer trying to look for something to get your miserable readership excited about.

If you're a hockey team called the Calgary Flames, it makes zero sense.

IMO if we are still "interested" in Chiarot, it's just to make sure the Oil have to pay their 1st to get him.

I would rather trade practically anyone in the organization than Wolf.
