Also, ridiculous how many Montreal fans are throwing shade on Toffoli right now after previously stating they were going to get one of our top prospects for him....Montreal fans right now:
He got two assists, both off of shots actually. But he sets up a bunch of other plays (and has some notable defensive plays too.)
Perhaps not strangely, this is when Mangi-Monahan-Coleman was a line. Better linemates, better effort it seems.
What the?
I just watched that entire video. You cherry pick a game from Nov 14th to show his amazeballs puck distribution skills and this is what we get? Best part is on the first goal its Monahan losing the puck along the boards and Kylington making a great play at the blue to avoid the turnover up the ice.
The second one Monahan tries a bad angle shot on the PP, Tkachuk picks up the rebound and scores.
How is this showing his good puck distribution skills in anyway?
Regardless now Monahan is gifted a solid player on his line, hopefully whoever that is figures out how to play with him and gets some kind of production 5 on 5 because he has been abysmal.
Let's go Monahan, now is the time to turn your season around. We all want to see it. No more excuses

7 even strength points in 45 games. Lucic has been paired with similar caliber linemates and has double that.
We will see what Monahan is about now that he (presumably) has a very solid winger on his flank. Hope his productivity picks up and it's a moot point.
His regression is well documented and I see no evidence pointing to the contrary (despite your insistence I'm 'seeing what I want to see'), but I'm happy to be proven wrong.

No, the best part of the trade isn't some other guy not playing anymore.
We are on a 6 game winning streak. Best point percentage in the division. No player on our team is crap. All are good players. It's great that we added more depth yesterday, too. But the current set of players got us to the top.

Check out who Lucic was playing with when he got his points. It wasn't Lewis and Richardson.
Monahan makes good smart passes on a consistent basis. They aren't flashy long range passes, but they are accurate. Is he what he was? No. But his stats with almost every other player are much better than his current linemates. When he got Mangiapane and Lucic for a game or two it was night and day better. Frankly, Dube handles the puck way too much on that line currently. He doesn't know what to do with it.

Come on man man, Ritchie is big and that's it. He's the last glaring hole in the group that needed an upgrade and it's pretty simple to see how this is a good thing despite Ritchie earning participation ribbons.

It's not about participation ribbons. It's not even about valid criticism of players. It's about our fan base taking totally unnecessary pot shots at random players.
Sports psychology is a real thing. Players do read what people say about them on the internet. Ritchie, Monahan, whoever. We don't need to be constantly dragging them for literally no reason. The team is playing great. We are winning. Be happy. Don't need to say Ritchie sucks while demoting him.

Sure, but to suggest that THIS is the best part of one of the biggest trades in post-cap Flames history? It is ridiculous hyperbole.

I thought it was kind of a tongue in cheek comment meant for a laugh. This team is going to make some noise cant wait!

Monahan is off for sure. He's not what he once was when you compare him to peak Monahan.
But I think we all know Lucic has had a lot of good fortune this year. What is it 5 five hole goals on modern NHL goalies?
Not sure that direct comparison is anything more than shooting luck for the most part.
Ritchie has attributes. They just aren't complementary to where he's currently playing. And in Sutter's defence, Ritchie's assets of size , decent speed and forechecking, look, on the surface, like ones which might work as a piece on a middle line. But they just aren't.
