I highly doubt it.
You don't separate the best line in hockey to help out another guy. If anything, Toffoli can help Monahan get going.

You dont steal the battery from the Cadillac so you can start the K car while requiring Caddy to get you where you want to go.

For those saying the Flames are now "all-in" because they traded a first, I don't believe that is true at all. If they trade at least two of Pelletier, Zary, Coronato, and Wolf then yes they are definitely all-in at that point. BTW I don't believe they will do that.

Why break up what is arguably one of the hottest lines in the league right now.
It makes no sense.

I would have Toffoli with Monahan and Dube, kind of like that 70's line, with Carter and Monahan both shooters, Dube can bring some speed. Maybe Toffoli can get Monahan going again.
I don't think you mess with the chemistry you have in the top 6.

You are slightly degrading one line in an effort to revive another. Can the team afford to have Monahan put up 7 goals through 45 games?

If the top line cools off and the team starts to struggle then yes maybe you make a move.
At this point you have a red hot line (the top line). In my opinion you look at putting Toffoli into a position that gives you another hot line.

Wish Sutter would swap 23 and 29. Dube is the better puck distrubutor and the better two way player, not that he's amazing at either just the better of the two IMO.
Regardless the three are talented players and on a third line they should be able to produce. Toffoli should be PP time to offset being on a traditional third line.

Coleman has 12 points in his last 15 GP. Surely his current production shows just how good he is, and now the Flames can ice arguably two second lines.

that is pretty cool.
Lucic picks him up at the airport and Dube buys him flowers.
What a way to welcome a new guy to the team.

Gaudreau - Lindholm - Tkachuk --> the best overall line in all of hockey
Mangiapane - Backlund - Coleman --> the best defensive line since being put together (min 200 mins together, per Button)
Toffoli is here to help build a 3rd scoring line.

No he is not. It is amazing that whoever plays with him automatically sees a drop in production and ice time. Once he figures out what to do then he can play more.

Yeah, this is completely false. Monahan's puck distribution skills are actually quite good, but too often this season his linemates have failed to convert.

By their metrics, Moneypuck has them as the 6th best overall line too. The top line makes an appearance at 7th.

And Two of bostons in the top 7 are essentially the same with Marchand and Bergeron, so pretty much number 5 and 6. That’s pretty special.

You'd think the oilers would have a top line but it's Drai - McAvi - .......Nurse?

Yeah the 3rd line being talked about as if it is some sort of slight is off base. Forget top 6, you need a top 9 if you want to make noise.
Florida currently has Reinhart and Lundell on theirs. Carolina has Niederrieter there currently, but Kotkaniemi, Svechnikov, and Necas have all spent time there this year. Eriksson Ek is centreing the third line in Minnesota and has 15 goals.
This Toffoli addition gives us lots of looks.
