So Bennett + Pitlick + 1st + 6th = Toffoli + 2nd?

Back the sensitivity down. One is a proven winner with a history of meeting expectations, the other was acquired on potential and fell way short of expectations.

The RHS defence is a general statement and a RHS defensemen is coveted but when you have a team that only has 1 right shooting winger on the roster (without a single point on the season) and have an opportunity to pick up a player like Toffoli, I'd make the same trade as made today without any hesitation.

Woah easy, maybe calm down the aggression Hamonic was aquired on potential? NOPE. Your opinion holds little weight to me if you think Hamonic was aquired based on unrealized upside. Have a nice day.

Working nights, just woke up and saw this.

- Got it done early, check
- Not a rental and a solid contract, check
- Right shot top six goal scorer, check
- 200 foot player, check
- Familiar with coach and won a cup with him, check
- Familiar with many players on the team and will fit in, check
- 1st round pick is top ten protected, check
- Gave up an unsigned euro prospect we didn't even draft, check
- Also gave up a 5th and a cap dump, check
- Kept all our top prospects, check

I mean, I can't find a single negative thing to say about this trade. Unbelievable, I can't believe it really happened.

Good job Tre, now get Jarnkrok too!

And in regards to both draft picks, they can be recouped at a later date.

Almost a perfect example of asset management.

9.

We now have 9 Cup Rings in that locker room, between the players and the head coach.

I think the expectations are clear, buckle up #unfinishedbusiness

The Athletic analysts grading the trade as an A for the Flames across the board. They go into a lot more detail, but here’s the gist of their assessments.

Quote:
Dom Luszczyszyn: In terms of fit, Tyler Toffoli feels perfect for the Flames: A hard-working scorer who can drive play and create chances on his own.

Grade: A
Quote:
Sean Gentile: Toffoli is good. This season has been a bit of a mess for him, by virtue of playing for the Canadiens, but he’s a year out from 28 goals in 52 games. That’s a legit top-six winger — and for the Flames, he’s a sorely needed second- or third-line guy.

Grade: A
Quote:
Corey Pronman: Toffoli’s skill, hockey sense and shot make him a useful offensive piece. His so-so skating limits him from being the guy who can drive a top-two line by himself, but for the Flames he can be a solid middle-six piece to complement an already strong offensive group at a reasonable cap hit.

Grade: A

I know which deal I like.
To this day I will never understand why we paid so much for Hamonic. Didn't he want a trade out of the Isle to come to Western Canada? We had the leverage.

To get Hamonic we should have given up a 1st, or 2 2nds. Not all 3!

I also think the fact they have selected 16 players the last couple drafts as well as a couple 2nds this year, makes it a little easier to to give up that 1st and 5th. Especially since 9 of those 16 players were taken in the top 100 of their draft and you have Kerins wasn't one of those 9.

Im not the one bossing people around and getting involved in discussions solely for throwing jabs. I gave an opinion of the trade and had a 2 way discussion with Djs where i found him to be condescending in his reply. Now i've had 4 uninvolved randos tell me to take a break, calm my emotions and be less sensitive. I'm sorry but, who the hell asked you?

I'm just sad we couldn't get him in 2020; no cap space after signing Markstrom and Tanev though. Although in an alternate universe where Sutter starts the offseason as the head coach, maybe Toffoli picks us instead...
How does CP's Habernac view the trade?
