Speaking about the Oilers... I just watched the press conference, and when Lucic and Monahan were up - just imagine if they (Oilers) named Lucic the captain instead of McDavid, Lucic just seems like a captain to me... and McDavid is more like Sean (no cut on Sean) - he just not Captain material.

I still really like that '09 Flames team when they acquired Jokinen, before all the injuries on the back end.
But this team is probably deeper, and better. Because Darryl is the coach and not the GM.

Actual Oiler fan quote: “we got our Toffoli in Kane for free”.
Toffoli is Kane if Kane was committed to a 200 foot game, was liked in the room, had a great off ice rep, and knew half the team already.

I haven't been this happy with a trade since the original Dougie Hamilton trade (I hated the trade that sent Dougie to Carolina at the time, but it's obviously worked out really well). Toffoli was the perfect target for this team. Can't wait to see him play.

Kane might score as many goals, but Toffoli playing the game the right way and not being an utter trainwreck off the ice automatically puts him far ahead.
Again, are you going for stats or trying to win?
The two don't always go hand in hand.
Oiler people still seem unable to grasp this, unbelievably.

Toffoli also only plays 17:30 a game. He's producing on a bad team but it's not like his numbers are inflated because he is getting 20+ mins a night.
Play him on the 3rd line with Dube and Monahan and IMO 1st PP for Monahan and he will excel and there is no concerns of a drop due to reduced role on a good team.
Also, Toffoli advanced stats say he was kind of being dragged down by Suzuki this year. Surprising considering Suzuki looks very good but Toffoli xGF% in 160+ mins away from Suzuki was 54%. Overall he is 49% but one of the best on Montreal

I didn't mind the gamble for Edmonton if you can swallow your honor and/or standards (if it applies)... I didn't mind it for the Oiler's because to me, it seems like their dressing room is already poisoned, but to me, it seems like we have a group of guys working well together, you don't want to introduce Kane into that IMO.... Tyler will fit in to me, Lucic was with him this past all-star weekend, Sean was his roommate in junior, our coach likes him and our players who played in LA and Vancouver like (love) him too... seems like a great fit so far in the room.
