I'll admit I wasn't sold on getting Toff but I'm actually pretty pumped about it. My concern was his age, and us giving up assets. But as I think about it, the 1st is going to be a later pick anyways and that is still a crap shoot. On top of that, we didn't have to give up Pelletier, Zary, or Coronato.

For some reason I could see Sutter putting Toffoli with Backlund and Mangiapaine, dropping Coleman with Monahan and Dube.
Mangiapaine-Backlund-Toffoli : Play making center setting up goal scorers.
Dube-Monahan-Coleman : High energy line with some 2 way elements.
Regardless, gives Darryl some nice options.

Seconded. I'd like to hear what Habs fans have to say. For them it makes sense, they're not going to be competitive for a while so time to hoard assets.
I like the trade, I'm super knowledgeable on Toffoli but he ticks all our boxes.
The fact that Treliving managed to offload Pitlick going the other way and protected the 1st in case something insane happens makes me rather pleased.

I can handle it because he fits a ton of need for this team and we have him for 2 more years after this. We also didn't give up a top prospect.

Wow I didn't expect such news until the deadline. I'm really excited about this team now. Everyone just slots so much better, and we have so many options up front now.
I'm really glad we got Toffoli, I was disappointed we got Tanev instead of him when they were both UFA's. In hindsight I'm very glad we now have both. Furthermore, I thought that he would cost more than a 1st + former 2nd + 5th + cap dump.
I wonder how the special teams will look now. Will Monahan be off PP1?
