I predicted a 1st and 5th + prospect for Toffoli. Laughing that the second pick was the 5th, because I said that the only depth picks we hit with are 4th or 6th rounders, so they're more valuable. Brad shared this sentiment haha.

If they were going to spend a 1st pretty happy that they got 3 years of a reasonable contract for it.

He was a very valuable component on the Two LA SC teams. Toffoli has not lost the crunch time productivity.

He had 28 goals in 52 games last season.
26 pts in 37 games this season.

14 pts in 22 playoff games last season.

Like the trade and barring a deal where they send out more players they might be done. I'd love to see Ritchie plus a pick for a solid forward like Jarnkrok, but they may decide to sit on that little bit of room to be able to call guys up if needed

If TT can get Monahan going it helps the off-season a lot. We can be pretty sure only 1-2 of 13/19/23 will be back, and each permutation could have its benefits.

If we sign Gaudreau, then trading at Tkachuk and keeping Monny until TDL could be the best way to restock cupboards.

Exactly this. I would prefer McCann because he's younger and an RFA and they could possibly keep him moving forward or trade him if need be while they could sign Jarnkrok next year if they really want him. Both play LW/C so would be a great fit with the Monahan and Toffoli line

Kirk Muller familiar with Toffoli from his time in Montreal last year.
Have liked Toffoli for a long time. Still in his prime.

Wow. Glad Tre got this done early, gives Toffoli time to gel with the team. Also like that its another guy with previous connection to Sutter. The Monahan connection is cool too. This is exactly what we needed to shore up our middle 6 forwards and force Ritchie out of the lineup.

I like the timing of this trade because it gives them time to mesh between now and the deadline, and Treliving can assess whether there are other weaknesses that present in that time that need addressing.
