Should have just kept Culley lol. But I would guess Lovie is getting the same deal as Culley, although this time McCown will be on the staff for a year so when they finally hire him they can claim he has experience now.

With the Lovie Smith hiring, the Saints are now the only team still without a head coach. I still think Dennis Allen is the favourite, but interesting that Bieniemy reportedly interviewed with the Saints for 9 hours yesterday...
And the Kamara news is mental. So basically he played the Pro Bowl game with a warrant out for his arrest.

Culley was just in way over his head a head coach and that was fairly evident for all to see. I don't think McCown gets hired as an assistant either, but who knows.

Firing Culley and promoting Lovie to oversee a couple years of the tank would have been fine had these decisions occurred in tandem. He's a far more reputable HC than Culley and it's a clear upgrade (low bar). However, firing Culley, bumble####ing your way through a second consecutive coaching search in as many years and then swerving last second from your final list of candidates to go with someone in-house is a massive L by Caserio and shows how broken their process is. Incredibly disappointing to see this given the positive direction the team has been headed in over the last year.
What's even more sad is that this massive L is still a far, far better situation than they were about to put themselves by willingly becoming the face of racial injustice in the NFL by hiring McCown. My only hope is that they made the decision themselves to move on from McCown and that it didn't have to be McCown himself who saw the incoming storm and made the decision to step back.

It's the right move, IMO. He deserves it (way overdue, frankly), and it allows the Saints to hold on to their frankly overqualified assistants by several getting a promotion now to fill the voids. And it keeps the strong culture in place they've created there.
I do feel bad for Bieniemy though, if it wasn't DA I would've loved that move or Flores.

Good for Kupp, but really could (should) have swept O POY and MVP. Triple Crown receivers are pretty rare these days

Devin Hester and Andre Johnson both miss out on the 1st ballot HOF. Yikes

This scares me because I can definitely see him ending up on the Bucs. But Howie basically redeemed his entire ####ty post-Super Bowl run with getting a first for Wentz.

Supposedly they really want Mariota for God knows what reason.

I mean, I'd take Mariota in Pittsburgh. Certainly over trading for a guy like Wentz or Garoppolo. As a free agent, what's the risk?

I'd prefer giving Huntley a chance in Pit over Mariota. I feel he has potential to be decent. Worst case scenario they tank and go into the following draft in a good position for a rookie QB.

You think the Ravens would trade with the Steelers for anything other than a monumental overpay? Especially for a QB? Huntley is an intriguing option out there, but at the same time Lamar hasn't even been extended yet, so no way they trade Hundley until that is worked out, at least.

if there's one QB I'd trade for, it's probably Minshew. At least there's some starting potential there.

Huntley should be a free agent this off-season if I'm not mistaken. I'm not sure if Baltimore is interested in signing him.

I see, in that case things are much different. I thought he was just a free agent.
