Spoiler!

What a fun game that was with a great outcome! Flames bent but didn't break due to the absolutely stellar play of Markstrom. What a solid #1 G between the Flames' pipes.

Zadarov is turning into a beast. Best hitter on the team since Ferland, maybe even Phaneuf. Love seeing Maginer, Backlund and Markstrom start to heat up at home. Flames are winning those games in hand and have their destiny in their own hands when it comes to leading the division.

Toronto has a lot of skill, but honestly screw them and #### their fans. Always grosses me out hearing them outcheer Flames' fans at the 'Dome. But happy to see them go home sad after this one.

That was a great game to watch, but one that left you feeling uncomfortable. The Leafs really out skated and outworked the Flames for much of the night. While it didn't amount to many dangerous scoring opportunities, it still is tough to see so many battles lost. The Leafs were prepared for the Flames and seemed to know some of the cute plays they've been making of late and shut that down. But once the Flames simplified and focused on getting the puck to the net, the tide turned. They had an answer and they figured out a way to win a game they probably could have easily lost. This team continues to amaze. One more finisher and this team is a serious contender.

We knew the Flames were going to be tired, we knew it was going to be a mega test against the Leafs, heck Vegas just got stomped by us 6-0 after stomping the Oil 4-0. To have this kind of performance, coming out of the allstar break on a back to back, both being against arguably top 5 teams in this league is nothing short of amazing. Push all in. This team is as legit as they come!

Did I miss the part where we passed Vegas?

Based on points percentage we lead the pacific now (4 games in hand on Vegas and just 3 points back)

And yet that has no bearing on the standings. Weird thing to say in an article.

It’s a TSN article… what’s weird is they’re being kind to Calgary lol.

Wow are Leafs fans ever entitled and delusional. It's like they expected the Flames to just roll over and succumb to the greatness that is the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Sutter also mentioned in the press conference after the Vegas game how the Oilers and Knights both lost when playing their second game in two nights. It’s almost like he challenged his guys to find a way to win tonight and they did it. Probably not the greatest game in terms of squandering the first period PP’s and all the shots against, but the PP still finished at 20% (1/5) and more importantly, they got the win.

I also lol’ed at this from the ATL:

Quote:
Zadorov is a wal mart Chara. Less talent, still dirty.
I think Sutter deserves a lot of credit for the success of both Zadorov and Gudbranson — those guys are a beast of a third pair right now.

Markstrom was a stud on a back to back. I hope Leaf fans in southern Ontario enjoyed the late start. No early start time in Calgary, LOL. Perfect PK at 3/3.

You could make an ATL from here on almost any given day and it would read the same way!

The ATL salt mine is amazing. Further confirms my impression of an entitled fanbase that thinks the world revolves around them ... they really are the Cowboys of the NHL.

fun times to be a Flames fan right now, I absolutely love this group and the way Sutter has them play. I'm convinced adding a guy like Toffoli would even take them to another level, but seeing Backlund and Coleman get on the scoresheet regularly already helps a ton.

and I can't stop being in awe over Kylington's progress this season. Simply incredible.

Mangiapane is also a +9 compared to McDavid's +5, Draisaitl only +3.

Gaudreau +35
Lindholm +33
Tkachuk +29

Plus/minus is actually a good stat for a lot of reasons.

Craig Button is a ####ing idiot. Guy's sucking the whole Flames team off between periods for sure.
This one was golden, but they're not totally wrong. Button does seem to have a soft spot for his former team, either way it made me spit my coffee out this morning
