What...I completely forgot that the Oilers coaching bench was all Flames cast-offs that were not good enough to be our coach lol.

Imagine not being allowed to coach the two guys eating up 30 minutes a night being liabilities too hard because they rule the roost and you don't want to encourage them to want to leave.

You pretty much have your hands tied as a coach.

You might not be far off. The way Tippet stormed off the bench last night seemed to suggest something was up. Either he knew he'd be fired, or he unleashed on his team/GM causing him to be fired, or he quit.

Disappointed MacT wasn't brought in, at least on an interim basis.

I am giddy for the Stauffer/Staples/Spector articles about why Woodcroft is an amazing hire lol

Anyone have a clip of Tippet bolting down the tunnel?

I suspect none of the current available coaches with any pedigree wanted to take over that mess. i wouldn't be surprised if they called people like Babcock, Maurice, Torts, and AV, and they all said thanks, but no thanks.

They might get a bit of a bump, I mean their next few opponents aren't that scary.

At the end of the day, this is going to make very little difference at all. The team has too many faults in it.

Bad goalies
bad blueline
ineffective bottom 6
two glory hogs that won't backcheck and play way to much time
A GM that is paralyzed by the salary cap.

I mean if you have a poor set of goalies and a really crappy blueline, the logical thing is to implement the trap, beef up your defensive play. That's not likely to happen.

I'm hoping they didn't tell the new coach to buy a house in Edmonton.

BTW I'm betting that this morning was the happiest day in Tippetts life. Its literally like being allowed to leave early on the last day of school. He's not going to lose any money, he doesn't have to deal with the train wreck that is the Oilers.

Two games after "turning the corner" with a win against Washington. Go figure.

Holland on the phone - "Hey Jay, how'd you like to come to Edmonton and coach the big team"
JW - "I don't know, I got a guy on the other line that's looking for a set of white walls, let me get back to you"
Holland - "I'll make you the highest paid coach in the NHL with a long term deal"
JW - "Why not, its not like I'll have to do much work"

Well Quenneville has to be at the top of the list? There's no way they're actually sticking with Woodcroft permanently, because that would ensure that McDavid is gone.

End of this year, it was unlikely that was going to be resigned anyways. This is literally giving the buy a break, and probably preventing a heart attack.

I'm sure Tippett was the happiest guy in the room and walked by McDrai on the way out giving them the double finger

Obviously, it's time to call up all the kids down in Bakersfield and thrust them into important roles.

Well they did take on a scum bag like Kane, so why not.

They can rename the team the Edmonton greasy dirtbags
