I really don't like this. Vladar needs to be given an opportunity. We can't let Markstrom get overworked and potentially injured. Also the last back to back Markstrom started after a shutout he was not good.

Yea but at this point, putting Vladar in vs Leafs he'd probably get lit the F up

Vladar came within a couple minutes of shutting out the Leafs in Toronto.

I want to see Vlader get more games too but I'm fine with it not being this one

I suppose...I'd like to see him play too man, I just don't see when he draws back in. Sutter is going full Kipper-mode with Marky

I'd recommend that we get used to Markstrom playing the vast bulk of the games the rest of the way. This is how Sutter deploys his goalies and has always been the case and I can't see it changing. Hoping for more starts from Vladar is only going to leave you disappointed!

They have that Vancouver goaltender expert on 960 every week and he is always saying how he's worried about Sutter overplaying Markstrom. As long as he doesn't suffer any injuries I'm not going to worry too much and ideally if the Flames could lock up a playoff spot early they can play Vladar more in the final weeks of the regular season.

It's not like Markstrom was overworked last night. 4 shots against in the first 30 minutes?

I just hope we are not lamenting a worn out Markstrom as the reason this team lost in the first round. It was so promising at the start but this definitely reminds me of how Sutter runs things with his top goalie. 60+ starts for Marky seems like a given

This is what it really boils down to. Vladar might play if Markstrom had faced 30+ shots last night

The players and Sutter talked about how February wasn't terrible as it was a 3 game per week pace. March is where it picks up to 4 games per week. I suspect we'll see Vladar for a few of back to backs in February and then more in March. Markstrom is on pace for about 68 to 70 games total which seems to be in line with the other top goalies.

Lots of high quality shots in the second half though. He earned his SO.

I think they are going with a strategy of using Markstrom to secure the POs and then giving him lots of rest beforehand.

I’ve recently been thinking about the Flames captain status, and wondering who may emerge as the next captain.

But right now, Sutter is our captain
