Dang I'm glad we got to Sutter before Edmonton did.

That's the best part of this, is that like so many other former coilers, Tippet will likely have a chance to find success elsewhere and will be able to prove that the losing in SweatPant City runs deeper than just a coach, or a backup goalie, or a 3rd string d man.

Would Darryl have gone there for any amount of money?

I'm a little worried.
I heard Woodcroft is coming to the table with a radical strategy.
Apparently his plan is to split up McDavid and Draisaitl until the team is losing (So somewhere around their opponents 2nd to 3rd shot of the game) and then tie them at the hip and play them 23 minutes a night because no one else can score.

Sounds like a winning formula to me.

Darryl might be the one guy who could do that. Good thing there's zero chance that happens.

Here's the live view of the Oilers firing Tippett and hiring Woodcroft:

The only person fit for this job is Cassie Campbell.
But it has to happen now for it to make sense.

An inexperienced head coach will command even less respect from the entitled twins.

This is all part of the plan, and it's actually a brilliant one.

The Edmonton Oilers may not know what makes a good team, good coaching, good cap management, or good hockey. But after cycling through so many coaches, players, GMs, and deals, they know every bad way things can go, so by process of elimination...

The thing is, wasn't that exactly Tippet's M.O. before he went to the Oilers? A take-no-#### systems coach?

It's funny what having uncoachable entitled pricks like McDavid and Draisaitl will do to a team.

Didn't Darryl say there was only two teams he would have come back and coached? Calgary or Chicago?

I thought Darryl hated the Oilers because him at Slats are both from Viking or something along those lines.

Dave Tippett is a top tier NHL coach. That team is rotten from the inside and is utterly uncoachable. They might go on a short run of success with the new guy - a dead cat bounce - but without gutting that team, they are going nowhere.

Remember very little of what Darryl says is actually what he thinks.

Why not do this before the All star Break? Instead they now go into the most brutal part of the schedule with zero time to even have a team meeting before they face a killer 3 weeks.

But I digress....wooohoooooo!!!! E=NG

Woodcroft interim coach? There is only one long term answer here:

FWIW, I don’t think Sutter hates the Oilers, and if he wanted to coach he would easily have gone there.

But anyway, I don’t see them getting anyone better than Tippett. AV is out there but he’s still being paid IIRC. And the Habs job may open up soon enough,

Yes. The coach is the problem.

The coach is always the problem.

The problem never changes.

The coaches change frequently.

But the coach is always the problem.
