If someone did that to my goalie in beer league he would be leaving the arena on a stretcher. I don't understand how he gets away with this ####.

Cause Marchand is an elite player, and elite players require elite matchups. Nobody good enough to play against Marchand is going to risk getting suspended themselves.

I guess times have changed, but usually if you attack a goalie your dead meat. Especially that spear to the throat, that could have been pretty serious. It will be interesting to see if anything happens the next time the Pens and Bruins play. I hope someone knocks his teeth out.

Lifetime Suspension

Like the leafs and Kadri, wondering how long Boston will put up with this? This suspension should have been 10, his next one will be.

So only one for that stick? The no injury thing shouldn’t count when the difference between injury and not, is career ending or not. Deliberately sticking an opponent in the face is a wild act.
|
Remember when Tkachuk got 2 games for the spear tap on that guys heel in Detroit? Relative to that, this should have been 10+ games!

Too bad they didn't have a microphone on Jarry, whatever he said must have been pure gold. That was a straight out of Slaphot reaction from Marchand.

I was watching at the end of the first period - Jarry and Marchand had an incident then (Jarry was trying to flip a puck over the glass to a fan and Marchand knocked it away and threw it down the ice). So the bad blood started as early as that.

Probably started with this… Marchand trying to get under Jarry’s skin and the reverse happened. Couldn’t have happened to a nicer pest.

I am wondering if he did this to the Flames, would Looch have beat the #### out of BM (since they were former team mates? (His initials suit BM just right)
Crosby didn't even give Marchand a shove, and the Penguins acted like the Nucks did in the 2011 playoffs, letting Marchand push them around.

No kidding. It must have been something REALLY triggering.
Unrelated, but at some point NHL/NHLPA will have to do something about verbal abuse. There is good old game trash talk and then there is some truly nasty sh...t. Sitting close to the glass, sometimes you hear what they say to each other – it's blood boiling for sure.

Announcers think that is so funny, took a puck away from a kid... someone should remind him why he makes millions playing a kids game

Yeah I actually think that stuff is awesome. The top comment on that video and his reply to himself captures how I felt seeing this highlight followed by the suspendible stuff.

I will admit, I thought it was funny but also an ####### thing to do. Being detached from both teams, it's easy to have both feelings.
I would be embarrassed if a Flames player did this at the Dome though.
