LeBrun's article is up on the athletic:
https://theathletic.com/3120087/2022...rade-deadline/

Not much to add to the rumor/speculation he talked about on TSN. LeBrun indicated that reading between the lines, Treliving would prefer to complete a trade before March 21. Also added that he suspects Flames and Gaudreau camp will pick up contract talks again after the season ends.

Bold prediction from Pierre here.

I am happy to read that Tre wants to get a trade done sooner.

Interesting. I was assuming he'd prefer to complete a trade between the trade deadline and the Playoffs

Bold move, Tre.

Treliving, will mess this up. But, if the flames don’t make the playoffs, I’m sure he’ll be making some changes in the off season…

I’ll believe it when I see it.

Moves should have been made 2 years ago, prior to Covid.

What is he supposed to say though? "Yeah the team all know we painted ourselves into a corner and the GMs have me over a barrel."

Everyone knows that they have to do a move so his answer is more tongue and cheek. You can't just add players to LTIR if they can still play.

People say this but that's exactly what Treliving did, or at least tried to do, that offseason.

In 18-19 we finished first in the west, then had a bad playoffs. That offseason he traded Neal for Lucic, and tried to trade Brodie/Jankowski for Kadri/Brown.

That 19-20 season was cut short by COVID. Even then though after the 19-20 season he brought in Markstrom and Tanev.

He's made changes / tried to make changes to this team throughout COVID.

Gaudreau, Monahan, Tkachuk, Lindholm, Mangiapane, Backlund, Hanifin, Andersson,

Those 8 players are the only guys that played 40 or more games for the Flames in the 18-19 season.

The roster has turned over.

Right? Any idiot GM should have seen this pandemic coming at least 3 years ago and made moves then to plan for it. What an idiot Tre is!

Not taking someone off LTIR who was entitled to go on, when they probably can play, is a much more subtle and easier play than just dumping players who are “banged up” onto LTIR. There’s a minimum standard for LTIR. 10 games and/or 24 days missed. Kucherov qualified to go on LTIR when they put him there. Did they fudge his return? Probably, but readiness to play after injury is a lot easier to play with.

What $5M player is Vegas going to do without for a month? And what’s the injury?

Some sort of Bowell disorder triggered by wearing Hockey Equipment that requires 2 weeks for the "Medication" to take effect. They'll rotate all their older forwards on this condition until playoffs.

In regards to being first in the west in 2018-19, they had a massive drop in production before the all star break, and he still made some insignificant move on the 3rd defensive pairing.

He played when he was cleared to play. You know perfectly well that skating, even practising in a regular jersey, does not mean you are immediately fit to play after a layoff of several months. Except when it's Tampa, and then suddenly it becomes the Bavarian Illuminati taking over the world.
For anybody that ACTUALLY believes Tampa's nonsense about the timing of Kucherov's return, I have a bridge to sell you.

This had nothing to do with the pandemic. Say what you want, but other teams were able to make moves, and Did. Before, during and post Covid. Tre, has proven to be incapable of making the right moves at the right time.

I don't know, signing Tanev/Markstrom has looked good.
He signed Coleman which is looking good, but as with all UFAs you will overpay.
And his much criticized depth signings of EG and Zadarov seem OK.

He's made moves.

Safe to say Darryl was involved in those signings.

So, no credit to Treliving or... a bit, but really only for pulling the trigger?
