The way I see it is if Gio comes back we can lose a d-man. Hanifin is from Boston and Hall is from here. We all know about Taylor Hall, now get him in our system and watch out. Straight up might do it...dunno.

As for Laine....I think the guy is a straight up stud plagued by past and current systems. Give our staff 10 games with him, might be interesting.

Number two move: Since I doubt that we can sign both Johnny and Tkachuk...send Tkachuk to Columbus for Laine plus.

Don't move Noah Hanifin. He's been outstanding this year

Laine is exactly what this team needs
Big body
Right handed
Elite goal scorer
Elite one timer on pp
With Columbus cap situation high end draft picks possibly 2 top 10 picks I just think they should keep him not trade him. They are set up pretty good after that Jones trade. Only way he’s available is if he refuses to sign
Toffolli for cap reasons is probably the more realistic target. Not quite the presence on the pp but has a history with Sutter so could be a huge add. If Treliving gets him this team will be set up for a good chance to make a run

Flames will be looking for secondary scoring. Lebrun believes there could be a fit with the Habs or Sens as trading partners. Also, since most teams are looking to bolster their defence, the Flames could benefit by being one of the few looking for forwards.

Toffoli would fit right in with Sutter for sure...we can't keep both JH and Matthew, will have to move one for asset plus picks?

Hanifin >> Gio. Laine should be able to be had for far less than Tkachuk if we want to go that way.
but welcome to the forum Yikes.

I strongly disagree. You don't move one of those two unless they want to leave. We can figure out how to make the salary work otherwise.
Look at Vegas for example. They are going to make a much more absurd situation work. (again)

Would Montreal move Dvroak? He and Todfoli would be nice adds and both come with great contracts if you think they are both second liners.

I guess the next question is do we want to tie up that kind of dough on 2 players?

Agreed. Trade for Toffoli and maybe include dube in the deal. It’s less than $2 mil added
Next summer adding toffolli might keep Johnny and Tkachuk in town. We can also offer shorter term deals to mangiapane Tkachuk and kylington to keep it together or look at ditching monahan or lucic. If we add it needs to be a straight add and worry about cap in the summer

Speaking of the Habs, I could totally see Treliving trying to add Josh Anderson.
He is clearly overpaid but he's like a bigger, younger Coleman and Treliving didn't hesitate to sign Coleman to a similar cap hit and term as what Anderson has left.

Josh Anderson's contract is an anchor. He is not coleman adjacent, he is lucic adjacent.

Didn't say I wanted him, I said I could see Treliving wanting him and I could also see him being available.
I could also see Sutter wanting him. He's huge, he's fast, he plays physical and he can score goals.

Aside from being fast, Anderson is nothing like Coleman.
Coleman's biggest strengths are that he is a possession & defensive beast.
Anderson is nowhere close to either of those things.

How much of that has to do with the team he plays on?
