A record like that over the next 20 would be a statement and a huge signal to management they should go all in.

Must have missed the second Min date. By very winnable, I was implying that I expect a win and that a loss would be disappointing. Of the seven tougher games, the Flames should be able to win at least one or two and should be able to at least squeeze an OT loss out of one or two more. But with the extra Min date, I will revise my expectation to 12-4-4.
Lofty expectation? Perhaps, but now's the time to make hay, as the last 20 games of the season won't be as easy as this coming 20 game stretch.

Yeah, this is where the Flames do get a taste of the two top Central teams in Colorado and Minnesota. Despite playing all their Eastern Road Games...they only play 5 of 20 in this rotation against the Pacific, and 9 against the East. So after this stretch they are done against the East in terms of games played. Last leg is going to be 100% in Conference games. 7 of the teams final 8 games will be against the Central. So it's really games 63 to 74 where there will be a lot of Division games.
Hopefully by than those California teams will be back to playing like teams wanting top 5 draft positions in the Draft Lottery, and the Oilers on the verger of a mutiny.

I would give the Flames a big edge on going on a big run if Treliving made a deal for another forward that can finish. One more proven scorer would really put this team in the up echelon of the league.

schedule sets up pretty well except how condensed it is...other teams will have breaks down the stretch while the Flames will be playing every other night

With the Trade Deadline being March 21st, that likely will have more impact on the last stretch of games.
It looks like he league is using 200 days to calculate salary cap usage this year as opposed to the regular 186. So the amount of a players cap and salary to be paid after the Deadline this year is less than it is in years past with the Deadline still being 40 days from the end of the season. So maybe a team with a bit of cap space like the Flames can make moves to bring in some help a bit earlier than other teams who need to the time for the cap to be available.

Just to add, it seems like in the past, Treliving does like to get his deadline deals done in the 2 weeks leading up to the deadline. He doesn't typically wait until the last minute if he can help it.

I think they'll go 11-6-3 for 25 points.
If the goaltending gets more consistent, though, I honestly think this team will be really hard to beat.
Adding a sniper would be great, but there are a lot of teams who'd love to add scoring.
With Backlund, Coleman and Ruzicka all picking up their games of late, and Dube/Monahan maybe having some more to offer.....a guy can dream.

Tough call though.
Currently they can add $2.7M under the cap (more if they trade out a contract). At the deadline they can add $5.6M and have a much easier time of adding an impact guy that can finish.
The $2.7M guy would be a good third liner by salary rankings.

19 - 1 but it would still be a disappointment if that one loss was to Edmonton.

My only request is use Vladar more frequently.
He's had a couple stinkers but Markstrom's had his too. When Darth has been called upon out of the blue he has held up his end much more often than not.

well you are exaggerating a bit because of how condensed it is...40 games in 80 days lol

Question on how CapFriendly reads. We can add $2.7M today. Is that the total salary of a player or their remaining cap hit? For example, Toffoli's AAV is $4.25MM, but his "Remaining Daily Cap Hit : $1,721,250"
Thank you (or anyone) in advance.

Believe that's the total cap hit of the player you can add today.
So it's a catch 22.
Add a lesser player sooner and hope more games creates the same impact of adding a better player late.
Can't do both.

I would take that and run with it. Challenge will be strong on home ice and secondly start winning against our division rivals. IF we can do both not concerned being in top 3 in pacific. otherwise going to be a dog fight

They have $1.11M for a player’s remaining cap hit. This projects to a player with a cap hit of $2.71M today, and $5.56M at the trade deadline. However it probably doesn’t take into account that we will be sending down a player, as we’re at the 23 contract limit. You can add at least an additional $800k to that sum.

Guys like playing every other day, helps them get into a groove. Throw in a few back to backs, and then a few times with two days between games, and it's perfect. I maintain this could be the most favourable 20-25 game stretch in the history of the league but note that I'm not willing to actually do any research on that

I am going to guess 12-7-1. Lots of home games, but lots of back to backs and games against tough teams.

Vladar needs to be utilized, especially on back to back games. Maybe give Markstrom the more guaranteed win and have Vladar try and steal us a couple. Need to keep Markstrom relatively healthy, otherwise, we are going to burn him out with how injury prone he already is.
