Possible fraud in Winnipeg Jets 50/50
https://www.nhl.com/jets/info/foundation/5050-winners
Stolen from a poster on HF Jets. One guy has one 4 times, 3 in January, and there are other mulitple winners.
The math on one person winning 4 times seems on par with the scene in Casino and the redneck getting fired for allowing 3 jackpots in an hour

It seems weird that it only got noticed today.
Truly hilarious.

Yeah that seems weird.
One where a guy somehow won the early bird and main draw in the same night too

Seems to be a few multiple winners... that does seem to stretch probability a little.

Possible Fraud, but also possible that the winner just buys a bunch of tickets to each draw too.
Looking at the list, the Jackpots aren't that big, which means there aren't many tickets sold, so if he bought a significant number of tickets, he could have pretty good odds....
There was a game there that the same person won the Early bird and regular prize too, that would seemingly be long odds as well, but it was on different tickets...

The dude won 3 times in January, in 12 games. And there were other multiple winners this season, including one guy winning the early bird and the main draw. This has McMillions written all over it.

For the number of tickets you'd have to buy to reasonably expect to win win 25% of the 50/50s in 12 games, you'd be out tens of thousands of dollars.
I'm going to guess that this is a clerical error on the website.

If they could rig the prize/draw, and give anyone the winning number which is clearly made public who won, and gave the same people over and over the winning number, they are the dumbest fraudsters ever!
Do they not know more then 3 people?

There's a limit of 250 people for Jets games right now so your chances would be higher than normal but that still seems off.

I get what you're saying, but those jackpots were small, it is still in the realm of possibility that someone could buy enough tickets to make a win a high probability....
the Jackpots were $5,000-$11,000, so for the $5,000 the total brought in from tickets was $10,000 presumably. If they sell the tickets like here in Calgary:
1 Raffle Ticket for $5
10 Raffle Tickets for $10
80 Raffle Tickets for $20
300 Raffle Tickets for $50
If they were all single ticket purchases that is 2000 tickets, the guy could break even buying 1000 tickets at $5 each with 50% of the tickets.
If he spent that same $5,000 on 100 packs of 300, he'd have 30,000 tickets against possibly 1000 single tickets giving him a 96.77% of the tickets.
Now breaking even isn't the point, so he likely would pick somewhere in between, to hopefully cover the few times he'd lose as well.
For instance, buying just 25 packs of 300 tickets would cost $1,250, and give him 7500 tickets, to still reach $10,000 total, an additional 1750 tickets would be sold at the single ticket price to give him 81% of the tickets, but the profit margin for a win would be 4X, so he could lose 3 times and still break even on the fourth.
Now if for instance, buying just 10 packs of 300 tickets would cost $500, and give him 3000 tickets, to still reach the $10,000 total, an additional 1900 tickets would be sold at the single ticket price to give him 61% of the tickets sold, but a 10X profit margin with a win, so he could lose 9 times and still break even!
If the jackpot is small, it would be easy to buy enough to make it worth while to have the odds to win multiple jackpots...of course the odds won't be this easy, since others will buy the other ticket packs too (not just singles) but that wont skew it too much I don't think with this small of a pot.

I wonder if that is what happened here:
https://winabmw.ca/winners
The same person won the car raffle and separate 50/50 draw. I bought tickets for this one and was pretty disappointed when I saw this. In fact, I have bought tickets for this one a few times in past draws because it's a good charity, but seeing the same person win both prizes kind turns me off. If the winner actually did invest a tonne of money into it, it would be good to know.

Huh, I thought this would be about Blake Wheeler's contract.

I would happily live here without an NHL team than Winnipeg with one. But you have experienced both for a very, very long time

I've thought about the logistics of a Lotto draw, so I've considered the possibilities before....FYI it's not really worth it for a Lotto unless you have millions to spend.
But if you are looking at a draw, with limited tickets, and a guaranteed winner, there is likely a sweet spot that gives very good odds, yet is affordable (an amount you are willing to lose)...it is still gambling after all!
