I wonder if Colorado would move Tyson Jost. It would free up $2m for them at the deadline. They have other players to fill his spot.

I think there is more there offensively with Jost and he just needs a chance to show it.

Just trying to think of other ways we can add to this team. Using the little bit of cap space we have to help those teams who are in LTIR might be a way we can help them and get better ourselves.

I think Kapanen is a complimentary player. I would view him as an upgrade to the 3rd line, but not if it would cost a 1st. (Which I think it would)
If you can do something around Juuso for him then I'd look at it.

I think the perfect deadline acquisition for the Flames could be Ryan Getzlaf. He is having a decent year, he would slot in very nicely as our 2nd line Center while only making 3 million. He used to play for the Hitmen and is a UFA at the end of the year. We don't currently have a captain and although you wouldn't have to put the C on his jersey he would sure add that leadership aspect to a playoff run.The Ducks are in 2nd place in the Pacific right now but have played 48 games compared to Calgary & Edmonton's 41 so its not likely they will be a playoff team this year. They have alot of good young pieces and I think they would be willing to move him if they got another good prospect back in return. What kind of a prospect do you guys think we would have to send their way in order for it to happen ?

I don’t see Getzlaf leaving the Ducks to play for anyone else sadly.

I'd love to see it but don't think Getzlaf is like Perry in the sense that he'll go chase Cups on whichever team needs him as a depth piece. He probably wants to stay in California.

Eric Staal if he has a good Olympics maybe?

Would be just for a few months , not saying he would resign with us in the off season. He could resign with the Ducks again come summer if he really wanted to. I think because he played junior for the Calgary Hitmen he might feel a little more comfortable coming here as a rental.

If there was one place though, perhaps it is a place they have already "retired" his jersey?? Hmmm

I would trade for Kap and Tippet.

Juuso for Tippett

Dube, Pitlick and a pick for Kapanen

Give us :

Gaudreau-Lindholm-Tkachuk
Coleman-Backlund-Kapanen
Mangiapane-Monahan-Tippett
Lucic-Ruzicka-Lewis/Ritchie

Don't need to meddle with anything else. Our middle six RW needs a major makeover.

He might do AZ. He seems to have connections there.

Ducks are currently in the playoff race. I don’t see them moving Getzlaf if they continue to hold on.

Domi is definitely intriguing though.

They have played 48 games compared to Calgary & Edmonton's 41gp. I don't see them making the playoffs as teams like Dallas and St Louis will most likely finish in wild card positions.

That’s fair, but I don’t know if they fall off that significantly to become a seller. Their point percentage is respectable (and currently ahead of the Stars’). If he is available, sure, he would be a good addition.

I wonder if Rakell is available if the Ducks decide they’re out.

Not sure about the money but what if the Flames added both Getzlaf and Rakell ? Both are UFA''s and the Flames will have a few million in space. Getzlaf making 3 million and Rakell 3.7 so both are fairly reasonable.

Yeah but they have a better points % (.573) than Dallas (.558) and have the same points % as Edmonton (.573). I don't see Anaheim trading Getzlaf and I get the sense that he wants to stay in Anaheim.

I would love to have him, don't get me wrong, just don't see it happening.

VGS: .620
CGY: .610
LAK: .576
ANA: .573
EDM: .573

Unless ANA goes into a prolonged skid, they are not going to be sellers. And considering the trade deadline is only 16 games away for them, the chances that they fall out of the picture in that amount of games, is pretty low.

ANA is effectively in a 3-way tie with LAK and EDM for the 3rd PAC spot.

DAL is essentially 1-2 pts behind those teams for the last WC spot.

So ANA has a 1/3 chance of getting 3rd in the PAC, and if they don't they have another 1/3 chance of getting the last wildcard.

They'd have to drop pretty far to be out of it by TDL...which would be the same as last year when Getz didn't move.

Wild card percentages (with VGS, CGY and LAK in the top 3 spots):

STL: .648
ANA: .573
EDM: .573
DAL: .558

Anaheim is very much in the playoff picture
