You not only do not understand dialect, you don't understand that Nova Scotia and Newfoundland are two completely different places. We come frmo two different "regions" IMO and there are a million factors that make newfoundlanders unique from anyone else but I don't really expect you to understand all of them. You say it is a weak excuse, I say it's a reality. You do really just need to deal with it better cause I ain't changing for you or the other two or three people who have a problem with how I write.

Like I have already said before, most times I do not intened to be condesending at all, I am sorry you feel that way. Sometimes I do but only when someone takes a shot at me first. That's how I operate.

Some GM's here do not like me and I really don't care. I don't really let it bother me so you shouldn't let it bother you.

I play this GAME as a crude GM sometimes but I really do seperate who I really am from the GM in this game.

Ok I am done here, happy playoffs everyone you bunch of jerks.

So, at risk at adding fuel to the fire, here's my experience and input. Hopefully this won't lead to another thread being locked out.

Dave/Jeff, I live in Calgary, but my neighbours are all Newfies, across the street, beside my house, up the street. I play ball in the Maritime Reunion League, and hang with a team primarily filled with Newfies. I have played Broomball for 16 years with Newfies. I am very familiar with the Newfie interaction. But I think you both will agree with me that the interaction is far beyond words, its filled with slaps on the back, punches to the arm, smiles, hugs etc. The whole interaction provides a huge feeling of loyalty, community and belonging.
I would go through the wall for my Newfie friends and they have never let me down when I needed a hand. However, on the message board, the only thing that comes across is the words. No smiles, laughter, etc. Sometimes, the words cut hard and if we were sitting around my fire pit burning wood supplied by one neighbour, drinking beer brought by another neighbour, eating burgers made on my BBQ, the words would have very different effect. Without all the other aspects of the Newfie relationship, the words sometimes just cut.
Thats all. Not a criticism, just a understanding that the way I communicate with my neighbours is different than the way I communicate with my employees and coworkers and verbal face to face communication is different than the way i deal in written communication.

I have no stress, therefore no need to kick the cat.

I would like to kick Dave just for fun though. But instead I will just go out and squish a few worms.

I find the most amazing thing about the Maritimes is that for provinces so close together there are really a lot of differences. From Dialect to tone to human interaction. I may joke that Nova Scotia and Newfoundland are the same just for the pure enjoyment of seeing both parties get pissed off about it... but they are very distinct entities

I just wish the Dave and Jeff's Accent came through on the message board.... and that it got thicker if they had a few beers.

It is why I have no stress.

I don't have stress, but I am a carrier.

That would go a long ways - most wouldn't be able to understand them, so most wouldn't get offended. (said with smiles and beer)

Oh just to clarify, Newfoundland is NOT a maritime province contrary what most people think. Nova Scotia, PEI and New Brunswick are.

I told ya me and HD weren't form the same region!

What Beerfund is saying true, the culture is a lot more then just words....So everytime you read something from Dave that offends you, pretend that he is saying it with a smile on his face and giving you a punch in the arm. In otherwords most things are harmless just take it as a joke.
Now let's all get along

I have an idea!!! Lets all get together at my house on March 31st. I'll supply the Alexander Keith’s and we can all get drunk and watch the Flames/Canucks game and fight amongst ourselves.....

P.S. - I still hate everyone - but Protto is growing on me as he recognized my post.

As I stated to Kev, I never made this thread in regards to one person. It was just for everyone in general. You're in my good books Dave.

If you're serving Whisky the chances of me going violent increase substantially. Serve Absynthe, and you might be able to get a video that gets 200,000 hits to post on YouTube.
