To be fair, the US probably held the edge in overall play. Borjan's save, the shot they hammered high from the side when Sam bobbled it, and the failed bicycle kick with 20 minutes to go were better tham any other chances Canada had all game outside of the goals. And of course, a bounce or bobble in the box can always go sideways but Canada cleared out and looked organized in doing so, but there was a few that could've been dangerous.
But, to say US was dominant would be a stretch, Canada didn't look uncomfortable or scrambling very much, as a team would that was lucky to hang on, would have looked.
I think Canada looked more shaky vs Honduras in the second half.
Can't take El Salvador for granted either, not a full 3 points will take a bit of the shine off today. ES has an outside shot at top 4, but have to run the table almost.

I felt like the US was winning every ball in the middle of the pitch and Canada gave it away cheaply on many occasions.

^ Don't think that's right. Canada would be on 25 points and Panama would still be on 17, but with still an ability to get to max 26 points to get, currently in 4th.
Would mean Canada couldn't be less than 4th but that doesn't get them to Qatar.
Edit Nevermind, if US loses Wed, one of those Panama next wins would have to be against the US, leaving the US getting 6 points max (24). So there is a chance.

Wish we could host a Canada game here in Calgary one day. Won't happen however, unless they want to play at ATCO Field (which would actually be really cool haha). Too bad for a city approaching the 2 million milestone in population, we have one of the most embarrassing pro outdoor field facilities in North America (and embarrassing pro sports facilities in general for a city of this size). Maybe before my time is up on this planet, that situation will be solved on both fronts.

Costa Rica also plays the US so same scenario as browna mentions above... Only one could get to 25.
Unlikely US loses to Honduras at home though.

Almost forgot how he schooled that guy.
In attack, Canada has all sorts of weapons. It's the other stuff that worries me, but so far so good.

It's been tough this rotation, 3 games in 7 days every time.
But I think for a World Cup if you start with 4-4-2
Borjan, Adekujbe, Vittoria, Kennedy, Johnston, Davies, Eustacio, Osorio, Buchannan, Larin, David
That's a really strong team with subs to complement.

Canada clinches a spot with 4 points in the last 4 games irrespective of other matches.
The aforementioned Canada win combined with the USA and Panama losses would clinch a spot this window.
Canada can clinch at least the playoff spot this window with:
- a Canada win and a Costa Rica draw or loss, OR
- a Canada draw and a Costa Rica loss
Costa Rica dropping points in two games means Canada clinches the playoff spot regardless.
Then a whole lot of combinations after that. There are multiple combos for Canada to qualify with zero points.
But here's an interesting scenario:
Match 11: Costa Rica beat Jamaica. USA over Honduras. Canada over El Salvador. Mexico draw Panama.
Match 12: CR over Canada. Panama over Honduras. USA beat Mexico
Match 13: Jamaica over Canada. Mexico over Honduras. CR over ES. USA draw Panama
Match 14: Panama over Canada. Mexico over ES, CR over USA.
That would leave a 5-way tie at 25 points, leaving it up to goal differential and the other tiebreakers.
No I haven't gotten any work done today, why do you ask?

The Ship and Anchor was packed yesterday with almost everyone in the bar there to watch the game. Lots of Canada gear in the crowd. It's always been a great bar for World Cup, Euros, Premier League type stuff, but the local game has never really mattered that much. Now it does.

Tony and Wilbon just roasted the US coach on PTI for saying the USA dominated Canada and that Canada couldn’t handle the USA’s physical play.
They both said he was a dope and laughed at him. It was very enjoyable.

Agreed.
Once Canada scored the first game at the 7 minute mark, they decided to defend the lead and didn't try to attack - there was no need.
Ironically, the US did this all the time in the past...the only thing that matters is that you make your chances count... The US had that header and the bicycle kick (which i think was offsides anyways) that felt like legitimately dangerous chances.
Canada had 3 and capitalized on 2 of them.
sure, they did own the TOP; I'll enjoy the win instead.

I'll do another breakdown after Wednesday. It's interesting that they are doing the draw before the Intercontinental playoffs. So a Colombia could be in Pot 4. But this is just speculating who knows what FIFA will do. We've had Pot X before in 2014 where Italy were screwed.
We need to cheer for Ghana and DR Congo
And North Macedonia!

Goal should be to make the World Cup, score our first World Cup goal, get our first World Cup point, and in a dream, get our first World Cup group win, and get the experience for 2026.
I know people have a lot of time on their hands but talking about an easier path to Round of 16 is fairy tales at this point.
There is a chance we have our hands full with #70 El Salvador in qualifying in a day or so.
