He essentially served a 1 game last night, though I think it would warrant another 1-2.
It's a little funny that Lewis did the McDavid move of flailing an arm back to initiate contact. How many games would this hit warrant if it was #97 receiving it instead?
Warrant or actually get? If it's McDiver, Myer would've gotten 3 at least.

Almost like she cannot please anyone. I had the same impression as you but reading the Canuck and Oiler comments makes me reconsider. Perhaps years of oiler and Canuck centred broadcasts have made me sensitive or, more likely, oiler and Canuck fans are not that smart.

Frankly, it's the same with all broadcasters teams when you look at other teams' boards. They are convinced their home guys bend over backwards to praise the other team. Remenda, Debrusk etc. They are convinced Cassie calls it for the Flames. Even on the exact same play (like Myers' hit).
I tend to think she gets fixed on a notion and beats it to death. Depending on the situation it sounds like she's "for" a team. In that case, she looked too hard for a reason for Myers to be a punk.

This is fair, people will always hear somewhat what they want.
Except for Oilers fans. The verbal fellatio that team gets for having accomplished squat is shocking. Oilers fans calling any other announcer a homer is beyond hilarious. Sportsnet pushed me a damn headline about Kane's firs goal as an Oiler for God's. I want my 2 bytes of cellular data back.

I'm not saying they're right. I'm generally OK with Cassie - at least not as triggered by her. But her call on the Myers' thing was just weird. And her inconsistency on the "good non call at this point in the game" was funny (though more of a ref defence than a pro Canuck take)

Debrusk NEVER does that when it's a Flames game. Maybe others.
I just don't like that she always says "I think the officials got it right there" when its well documented that calls are botched or inaccurately assessed just about every night.
I don't recall a time I've heard her offer an opposing stance on a call. Its like she's afraid to disrespect the system or something by having a separate opinion.
It adds to the blandness of the commentary.

Myers height discrepancy is probably the deciding factor, rightly or wrongly.
I think that is part of it. No doubt that Myers was pissed at him and meant to hit him hard, but I don't think he counted on Lewis lowering his head and turning away. The play happened pretty fast. Dangerous hit, but I don't think Myers had the intention of hurting him. Also, Lewis coming back in probably factored in. And while the slap to the face he gave Myers was overly exaggerated and relatively light, I can see how it would be considered a provocation. I think the match penalty and 5 minute major was appropriate and no supplemental discipline is necessary, but I just wish the NHL would be more consistent on this. There have been lighter things suspended for this season.

How often does this actually happen on a Canadian national broadcast?

A joke. Lewis didn't turn into a hit or duck last minute like some of these go (Lucic/Demelo)
With no incident, that's a suspension of a game, but when it's clear it was a revenge hit for him being mad for getting a facewash and he follows and targets Lewis for that reason, and still follows through high on the head first when he easily could've bounced hit him on the shoulders, it should be 2 or 3 minimum.
