So look, I get it, Gaudreau's breakaway the other day where he just goes beside the net and flicks it back to Lindholm who buries it... that was magic. Unbelievable.

This penalty shot was never a threat. He takes the puck at 1/3 pace, takes an inconsequential angle toward the net (not enough to make the goalie move) and gets too deep and flicks the puck into the goalie. Gaudreau's great on the moment, at pace. When he's given time like this, and pressure I suppose, the result isn't as exciting.

It's not coaching, Darryl didn't tell him to take the puck at a boring pace and get a little too deep.

It's a lack of coaching. This stuff needs to be practiced. How often did the Flames win a shootout this season early on?

Last year, 31% of PS were goals.

Two years ago, 25 % of PS were goals.

Yes, Johnny was close.

Man, after listening to Ian White's stories and hearing about how much drinking goes on with teammates on flights and between games, you just wonder how often these guys are coming to the rink more done in by their off ice activities than the games themselves.

A number of Flames players look like they don't have their hand-eye coordination or timing with the puck in this one.

Lol, SN panel talking like it's a foregone conclusion that the Oilers will make the playoffs.

Have you looked at the slow Mo yet? Dude it was maybe a half inch from being a goal. Demko tried to glove it and it glanced off his shoulder.

He also hit the crossbar on the break away in the first place

Questioning Gaudreau's skill lol

The intermission panel just mentioned that since Boudreau took over as coach, the Canucks are (I believe they said) #1 in the league in goals against and #1 in save percentage.

Just maybe the opposing team deserves some credit for staying in the game, and it isn't just a matter of the Flames forgetting how to hockey.

Demko is good. Will never not admit that.

Canucks getting a lot of sticks in the way at the last moment.

Flames don’t practice scoring enough.

Ok what should they practice less of so they can do more of that scoring stuff?

I think you are being over critical about something that you have little understanding of
The attempt was fine. A bit higher and it’s a goal

Missed the 1st period, but getting vibes this is shaping up to be yet another Pacific Division game where the Flames get PDO'd.... which happens in every single Pacific Division game it seems.

Canucks are doing a great job of protecting the middle of the ice - and it’s really limiting the Flames.

It’s a good reminder that this roster’s key players have a history of struggling to get “inside” during the playoffs - and it’s something the Flames should address by adding a meaningful top-6 forward.

I'll trust the guy who has scored 50 or so goals or more going over the left shoulder of goalies..he missed by two inches, either Demko's shoulder dropping or him getting it up higher.

Low blocker looks the same. 2 inches too high and it hits the goalie who just has his blocker sitting there. 2 inches too low and it hits the goalies stick, again which is sitting there, all assuming you're square to the goalie...and looks terrible when saved becuase it looks like the player didn't try very hard becuase the goalie didn't try very hard.

A terrible penalty shot, for players who practice it regularly, is falling, fanning, missing the puck alltogether, or wildly missing the net or firing it right into the goalie's crest.

Not scoring
they are good at that and should practice at it less. They’ve got that down pat.

You're embarrassing yourself.

Players practice their penalty shot moves. Johnny knew exactly what he was doing. And he had Demko beat. But his shot hit Demko's jersey - half an inch to the right, and it's 1-0.

Need a Monahan or Lucic garbage kind of goal to crack the nut here.
