If Backlund and Tkachuk buried their chances, we likely win this game. Scoreboard didn't tell the whole story.

3 in 4 nights, and still a pretty good effort. Can’t be mad.

On to face the Canucks for a 1 game home stand and then back on the road for a couple.

If Backlund finishes his chances it's a different game.

He played well tonight after FINALLY getting called out by a coach for being invisible, but the breakaway missed and empty net post go in will have had this a totally different game

The Oilers won't be close to 17. Maybe 9th?

If the Flames D can contain the Blues forecheck behind their net on goals 3 and 4 it's a different game.

Not sure I agree with the suggestion that the Flames were the better team despite the fancy stats. Blues were the better team where and when it mattered.

Still a close game until the end. I was puzzled by the goaltending choice as well. Markstrom didn't seem sharp to me either. I felt he should have had the Schenn goal at least.

I don’t understand why the 4th line/3rd pair so much time together. Either group is tolerable on their own but when all 5 are out there it’s a black hole of suck.

There’s enough icetime that they don’t need to overlap like they do. Total disaster tonight from them.

nothing has been said. But it certainly was a surprise. And if Vladar is healthy, it seems like a pretty bad call (prior to the result)

edit: I stand corrected

don't agree with Mr Sutter on this one

The problem with "the other guy hasn't won in a month" is the hole is only getting deeper each game

Guess the plan is to not let Valdar win for two months. Then three.

Playing Vladar back to back against CAR and TBL. Jan 6 and 7 (and that sure worked out great). His previous start was Dec. 7. No #### he hasn't won in a month...

No, it’s called motivation. Valdar will figure it out.

Playing the second game of a back to back, in a city the Flames generally have bad puck luck. Playing against a goaltender with a perfect record at home. Blues haven't lost at home since November, not surprised with the score. Suck it up and win the next one.

Knew this would be tough but the final score is a bummer.

I’m guessing there’s more to the Markstrom story. 3 in 4 nights is crazy when there is such a busy schedule coming up. Either Vladar is nursing something or he’s been crap in practice.

Flames have 21 of 26 at home coming up with no more Eastern travel. They are really setup nicely. This game really isn't the end of the world.
