Thanks. I seem to remember thinking that he was having a strong game through the first 30 mins or so—similar to how I felt about Mrzlekins last night. Have I misremembered?

Maybe the St Louis game also turns out to be a game that was a win (or a loss), regardless of who was in net - you never know.
The idea is to get at least two points from the two games - they have done that and now have a chance for more.

Unless expectations are extremely low I don't think you ever look at a back to back games hoping to win only one game. I look at it this way. You have back to back games. One opponent is clearly the lesser of the two and out of conference so only 2 point game. The other opponent is 2nd in the conference and represents a 4 point swing in overall conference standings. I'm going to start by best guy in the 4 point game against the better opponent because IMO that's the better decision. I'm sure Darryl has his reasons and it probably has to do with giving Markstrom an extra day off before facing the Canucks.

Add to this, that the schedule is going to get very busy, need to manage both goalies with this in mind, Markstrom needs rest, and Vladar needs to get some quality starts too!
Here’s hoping Vladar can add to the confidence the team should have in him, so the team is confident regardless of the goalie used.

Its not like Markstrom had a lot of work last night, wouldn't surprise me to see him in net tonight.

I have to agree. I think the Blues will come out angry, but the Flames appear to be on an entirely different level right now.
I want the Blues to come out firing on all cylinders. I really want to know if the Flames have what it takes to follow these two games up.

Hoping for 2 points in any fashion as it's going to be a tough one.
Maybe Tkachuk will put on another 5 point night showcasing himself for his new bosses?

Guess I'll just recycle this post from yesterday. Looks like it worked.

If I recall correctly, they have not sheltered Vladar at all. They have put him in against Washington, Boston, Tampa, Carolina etc.
Wouldn’t be surprised to see him against the Blues team with something to prove
Hopefully the Flames dominate like they have the past couple of games no matter who starts. I just expect more fight from the Blues tonight

This game is so interesting.
The Blues have to better than Monday, but really when you look at their numbers they are not a good five on five team. They have a 1.02 PDO to date, and top five save and shooting percentage five on five.
They are 26th in HD/60 for and 29th in HD/60 against.
Calgary if they're not tired should run the show five on five which brings it down to finish ... the Flames have top five metrics across the board, they're for real. But what is also real is the lack of finishing (changing this week). The Flames are 29th in HD for shooting percentage.

Sutter will go with whoever he planned to start when he looked at the schedule a couple weeks ago. Last night will have nothing to do with it.

Best chance is to win game one of road back to backs. Teams fresh, start your best goalie. The second game is a bonus. Doesn’t hurt that our backup has been solid.

Hopefully they're holding on to the sticks a little tight trying too hard... the Flames should capitalize on the mistakes made by this. When we played St. Louis last time, they were playing their third game in four nights on a back to back and winning... we are now on our third game in four nights on a back to back and winning both those games... this is going to be an interesting test to watch.

even if the Flames are only half as good as Monday then we'll win 4-1.

Since Guadreau is such a rare talent and he's embraced and is playing superb 2 way hockey, he's an exception to the usual Sutter mix but boy is the rest of that squad a Sutter team.
Someone on FN noted that when Calgary has been walloping teams none of them including the Blues or Columbus have gotten angry and tried to goon it up. Zadorov, Ritchie, Gudbranson and Lucic are all doing great jobs as far as I'm concerned. Sure Zadorovs an adventure sometimes and Ritchie has hands of lead but no one seems to want to get physical with Calgary when their team is on the ropes.
In 2014 and 2012 Sutters smallest player was 6.0" 185 Justin Williams. That's it. We have a whole string about why won't they play Mathew Philips. I don't think some guys get Sutter Hockey in it's entirety. Philips may play one day, who knows but he won't be playing for Sutter.
Will St Louis break the trend and try to get tough if they fall behind tonight?

Gaudreau only has 1 goal in his last 5 games? He needs to start contributing!

I'm betting the blues will come out and really clog the neutral zone this game and the Flams will have some troubles compared to the last two games.
