Shapo's girlfriend is a fine tennis player in her own right - She lost her final qualification match to make the main draw for the women's tourney.

Who does the scheduling for the Aussie Open? The reason I'm asking this is that I don't think they know what the hell they're doing.

By the way, we're getting close to closing the roof in Melbourne as it's 34 degrees currently.

Okay, Cilic can stop painting lines anytime now.

Well, this first set looks done and dusted. Cilic is just on fire at the moment.

It looks like they're playing in a oven and Felix already looks drained.

Edit: That was a big hold by FAA from love-30 down to start set 2.

Another hold from love-30 down by Felix - Playing with fire, but Cilic has also come off the boil somewhat.

Edit: Of course Cilic hammers down aces in his next service game.

I like the body language from Felix, he just needs to hang in there and hope Cilic cools off a little.

He played an incredible first set. Pretty good level in set 2 as well, but Felix is getting some looks.

What the hell is Felix doing? Blowing Cilic off the court cannot have been the game plan, can it? Why is he going for these big shots? He's missing them by miles, not even close. Should have broken that game and gave 3 points away.

I mean... it's freaking Cilic. If you're going to win now this is probably going 5. Run him around.

How can anyone play professional tennis and not see this as the obvious course?

EDIT: Gutsy hold to dig out of 0-30 with four straight points.

Cilic is a veteran and this likely won't bother him, but the fact that he's gotten to love-30 on three of Felix's service games and hasn't earned a break yet might weigh on his mind.

Okay I may just be dumb but why are they so obsessed with the racket strings in this match?

He has to convert here. This could very well be the match. If Felix loses this set it's done. If he takes it I think he takes the match... at least I'd favour him in a 3 set runoff.

But that serve, nothing you can do about that.

EDIT: That is inexcusable. To not get that back in... Jesus that's bad.

String tension can really vary in this intense heat. I would think guys would want to string their rackets tighter as the balls will be flying in this hot weather and a higher tension should provide more control.

But these guys droning on and on about it is annoying lol

That... really really hurts. Hard to come back after that. If he still wins the set it'll be fine but damn. The 2nd set point was a huge missed opportunity.
