I'm hoping somebody can help me out here. I'm looking for a movie trailer for an upcoming Japanese (I think) film that was posted here about 6-8 months ago. It's a samurai slash-em-up flick, with over the top gore like Kill Bill. One specific I remember from the trailer is a scene in which a large guy has his upper half sliced away from his bottom half, at an angle so that the top half slides slowly off his body.
Awesome.
I just watched Zatoichi and am doing a late night search for some more Japanese flicks I want to see, and can't track this down anywhere. Although I am reading about cool movies coming out next year. But that's for another thread. If anyone can help me out here, I'd be very grateful. And able to go to sleep.

Is it called "Hero"?
If so, it's a really good movie. Clever story line.

Thanks, but no. Hero was good, I thought.
This one is like Hero crossed with the Japanese cut of Kill Bill. Hero with guys getting sliced in two and having their upper bodies slowly drop to the floor. With blood. Gushing.

Was it Ichi The Killer?

There's lots of slicing and dicing and gushing in this one. However, it's not upcoming. So probably not it.
edit: WARNING: Above link contains graphic scenes of violence and gore. Watch with a good stomach.

Note to everyone. watch Ichi the Killer if you think you can stomach it. I would not consider the violence graphically realistic, rather it is so over the top that it is silly at times. These japanese films are highly stylized(original and cool) and you will be seeing a lot of copycats and remakes in hollywood in the years to come. So why not do yourselves a favor and check out Ichi the Killer.

Its been on the tip of my tounge since you started this thread. I beleive Table 5 was the one who mentioned it on the off topic board a couple months ago.. I rented it from his recommendation... maybe PM him and ask.
Something Samuri... or something like that.

That was me that put it up (I get no respect, I tell ya. No respect!)
I'll see if I can dig it up, but it might take me a couple of days as I've still got 1 exam left.
Edit: Couple of days my a**

YES!!
Thanks man. After a little research, I guess it's by the same guy who directed Ichi the Killer, and stars the guy who played the masseur in Zatoichi. Not getting overly favorable reviews though- people describing it as an all-out bloodfest with no discernable storyline.
Anyways, this has been bugging me all day, so thanks again.
