Stop blaming the refs. We dug our own grave.

I knew it was going to go this way tonight and said it in the Edmonton is no Good thread.

It was inevitable that the Oilers shooting percentage and save percentage would bounce back against the Flames, and sure enough the Flames got PDO’d tonight.

High Danger chances were 15-6

Markstrom let in two point shots that were untouched, and I didn’t love Perlini’s goal either.

Goaltending was the difference tonight

Flames played down to the level of the Oilers in the last 2 periods.

Even wprse is Koski out played Marky and that is not acceptable. I feared this type of result and it's what we got.

Mediocre team vs medicine team
If the Flames scored once on the PP this would be a different game. The Oiler scores two, and we only have three forwards coming to play as usual. Clean the friggin house including Tre.

Normally I'd hate this loss to the Oilers but after that unreal Niners win don't even care.

DEEEEBOOOOO

But from what I did see not really worried, didn't look like the better team won. Oilers can't lose every game and will get some puck luck some nights but they're still no good and nothing to worry about.

If the Flames are a bubble team come trade deadline, I hope Tre has the balls to pull the pin on the season and amass the best picks & prospects in exchange for all the guys on expiring contracts. We need higher end talent.

Just one where a lot of little things didn't go their way, including bounces, calls, and fortune at key moments.

Once again outplayed the Oilers massively on their rink. Both games over 40 shots unloaded on them! But Oilers capitalize on 1/4 of the scoring chances.

They're still a complete and utter trainwreck.

BoA is their Stanley cup. Now they go back to sulking and sucking.

If we didn't let off a bit to start the second we would've run away with this. Lesson to take away. Kill them in next meeting (hopefully in our barn?)

Such shame. Letting those snots up the QE2 breathe life into their near dead lungs. Can't win em all but you Hate to see them get life in a BOA game.

This remains an aggravating team to watch.....every other team makes Kostinen look like the AHL goalie he is.....but he’s suddenly great against the Flames. And blowing a 2 goal lead to this pathetic franchise? Yeesh

You pay Markstrom big money and this is what you get. Very frustrating that he hasn’t been able to elevate his game. These are games that you have to win especially when you outplay your opposition. Losing the goaltending battle to Koskinen is absolutely embarrassing.

Not surprised we lost Flames are the one team Oilers don't like to lose to and always show up.

Serious question, when was the last time this team tied a game late and went on to win the game?

Markstrom is no where near difference-maker level right now

Oh well, shyt happens. I'd love to see Sutter come out in a press conference and seriously question the officiating on the interferance and icing call.

Markstrom has to be way better, but I think Vlader really needs to play more.

The Oilers are absolute trash in their own end. They were a really bad team tonight except for Koskinen who absolutely bailed them out.

I have slowly been losing interest in hockey though over the last few years, its getting rare that I will watch games all the way through.

The last two games have been away from the performances that were present before and after the Covid hiatus.

Goaltending was the difference tonight. But I’m encouraged by what was in front of Markstrom the last two games.

Onto the next one.

Whether the refs helped or not, losing to that garbage team is just embarrassing. Flames were certainly the better team overall, but Tre needs to get us some goal scoring help so that we can at least bury some of those grade A chances that we always seem to whiff on. 47 shots on goal tonight, and yet somehow we still lost. So frustrating.

Also, Markstrom and our PK were not very good tonight.

100% agreed. Flames season is pretty much over at this point. #88 and #29 can't buy a goal and the team can't win at home.

That was incredibly predictable, wasn't it. Terrible goalie all of a sudden making all the saves. Struggling power play suddenly pots two easy goals from outside the circles. Blown call decides the game. Yeah, that was basically exactly the game script I was expecting. Anyway, Tippett stays, nothing changes. That's the silver lining. Still it's infuriating that the Flames just can't win a game in which they dominate pretty much from start to finish. Hopefully they are just as angry as we are and start to string some wins together now that the schedule is getting back to some semblance of continuity.

There are two refs on the ice. I'm not sure how it is possible to miss and not call the interference on Kylington by Pulijarvi. It effected how Draisatl went to the net, because he saw the wide open space. Tanev looked bad because he couldn't see the space opened up by the interference.

Refs scored that goal.
