Just prior to the Leafs firing Travis Dermott into the sun, Habs GM Goffie intercepted and brought him to Monteal in exchange for Dmitry Kulikov.
It's no secret Dermott has been solely responsible for the Leafs woes this season so we were happy to ship him out.
We are pleased to bring in Kulikov, as it's just a fun name to say. Try it!
Kulikov... Koolikov... COOLikov.... so fun!

We had to reward Dermott for his great work in last years NHL playoffs. His setup on Kotkaniemi game 6 OT goal was legendary. We could not let such an integral part of that playoff run not be a part of our quest for the playoffs this year.

I second this.
Leafs won that series in 5 games if I recall.

Your name is probably the most creative on CPHL. Love it.
Hopefully Dr. Zaius can save you by creating a time machine and send you back to 2004 so you can remember what a playoff series win feels like.

I'm just happy you got to witness a good run before the Habs get relegated this year.

Josh Bailey has been moved by the TBL. He had found his way onto our fourth line. His production over the last couple of games had gone up in that role. 4 points in the back to backs, but the Lightning are happy to bring in some defensive help. They also free up some cap for the next year by moving both Bailey and Benn, with Johnson being an upcoming UFA
To Washington
Josh Bailey
Jordie Benn
To TBL
Erik Johnson
Henrik Borgstrom
Jack Finley
2022 3rd (TOR)
2022 3rd (OTT)
WSH also sends 0.85 million in cap to even put the cap for the year.

We've acquired Joe Pavelski from the Sabres in exchange for Nick Schmaltz and Pavel Francouz.
Vets rule all in the CPHL. We badly needed to make a trade to bring in more scoring and we're hopeful Pavelski will provide a spark. We couldn't stand still while getting outshot every night.
Thanks to the Sabres for the deal.

TEAM: Columbus Blue Jackets
Players/Picks from: Columbus Blue Jackets
1. Lajoie, Max (D) NHL
Players/Picks from: St. Louis Blues
1. Nyquist, Gustav (LW) NHL
Frankly I messed up on a trade a while ago and I put myself into cap hell and had to demote Fabbro because of Nyquist. With this move, I can bring Fabbro back up to stabilize my defense.
I liked the idea of Nyquist but I like my forward group right now. This was strictly a cap move.

To the Buffalo Sabres
Eric Cernak (back from injury in 2 games)
Denis Gurianov
Jack Lafontaine
To the Los Angeles Kings
David Perron
Sami Vatanen
Peyton Krebs
No pressure, kid. LA gives up a couple of young players for two UFAs and a cost controlled player for next season. Cernak is a monster, so I didn't have to do a lot of arm twisting to get this done. Gurianov is still only 23. Lafontaine fills a need on the Sabres.
Vatanen and Perron are pretty parallel moves for this year, but have little to no value for me next year. That puts all of the eggs in the Krebs basket. I'm counting on him to re-rate as a playable asset next year, and leave some cap space to pick up the high end winger that this team has always lacked.
Also banking on Kylington replacing Cernak on the blueline next year, and that looks like a good bet so far. Krebs and Grundstrom have been my only two futures moves over the whole season, so like I said, no pressure kid.

From Buffalo's side of things, this is the type of deal we've been wanting to pull off. Playoffs are out of the question for us and so our GM made the decision to move whatever veteran players we had on expiring contracts. The fact that we were able to bring in two, rfa-aged players for two aging veterans is tremendous. The fact that Krebs was shipped out with them is less than ideal but that was the price and I think it was a fair price.
L.A. gets a possible future stud and Buffalo gets two young players that can be plugged in immediately and give us team control for a bunch of years.
Thanks to Harry Onions for the easy deal.

To Montreal
Mackenzie Weegar
To NYI
Erik Brannstrom
Tyler Toffoli
This has been in the works for a while. I’m a fan of Weegars game and feel he is underrated.
We wanted to upgrade our D and had an access of forwards to make it happen. I really like the way Brannstrom is playing in the NHL, but I think Weegar is a great top pairing option.
Habs have a few more talks in the works and depending on how the team plays the next few games a few more deals could follow before the weekend.

New Jersey receives Dante Fabbro and Rocco Grimaldi
St Louis receives Colton Sissons.
Reasoning. Dante was in the minors, and had a fairly big contract. In return I get a good bottom 6 player that can skate all forward positions and has an 80 check 84 defensive rating with a 69 overall that should rerate ok.
There was no cheese exchange in this deal which fixes my cap in the AHL and my cap on the main roster while balancing my bottom 6.

We've traded Johan Larsson, Vladimir Tkachev, and a 5th to Tampa Bay in exchange for Robert Bortuzzo and Sasha Chmelevski.

Acquiring Erik Johnson, had rendered Bortuzzo excess to what we needed. Getting Larsson allows us to put a better bottom six into our lineup.
