Novak might be out of luck for the French Open as well...
France’s parliament approved a law Sunday that will exclude unvaccinated people from all restaurants, sports arenas, and other venues — the central measure of government efforts to protect hospitals amid record numbers of infections driven by the highly contagious Omicron variant.
The National Assembly adopted the law by a vote of 215-58. Centrist president Emmanuel Macron had hoped to push the bill through faster, but it was slightly delayed by resistance from lawmakers both on the right and left and hundreds of proposed amendments.

The goofy women's covid rankings. Kenin lost 1st round so her 2020 championship points drop off. She is now ranked 91!
Osaka's 2021 championship points also drop off. If she loses early she'll also be in the 90s!

Coco Gauff upset in straight sets in the first round - That was certainly unexpected as she was playing fine tennis coming into the Aussie Open (lost to Madison Keys in a final just a couple of days ago).

Was a tough draw, Wang is really solid. 38 unforced errors in 18 games doesn't help.

Yeah, when you see that Wang was ranked #12 in the world just a couple of years ago, it certainly emphasizes your point GS.

I don't think it is out of the realm of possibility that Novax is unable to play several of the 1000 level clay events and Wimbledon either. Wouldn't it be something if he completely undid himself and missed the all time major record on the back of his complete narcissism that prevents him from playing any significant events for the foreseeable future (aside from Indian Wells and Miami of course).
I also wouldn't bet against Roger making an epic run at one last Wimbledon crown as unlikely as that seems right now.

Upset alert: Kvitova is down a set and a break to Cirstea. Cirstea has always been a talented player but lacks fitness and temperment. She's always down on herself.

I think we're seeing the end of Kvitova as a serious slam contender as she had a terrible end to 2021 and is just not the same player that she used to be. 6-2 6-2 to Cirstea was the final set score.

Another upset alert as Gasquet is up 2 sets to 1 on his countryman Ugo Humbert.

Settling in for Leylah’s match. Something about watching the AO seems so normal. Nice for a change.

Leylah is now wearing Lululemon. A nice upgrade from Asics.

First set to Inglis 6-4 and Leylah looks frustrated out there.

Check out dash_pinched's favorite player Benoit Paire. He’s chosen a color that really brings out his sweat patches.

Inglis is playing well, but is also getting a lot of help from Leylah. Also, Leylah looks slow to me, she's not getting to balls she usually gets to.

I don't know what I'm watching. Medvedev getting broken first game, Fernandez getting smoked, Paire playing error free tennis....

The curse of Canadian female tennis players continues. After their initial breakthrough it's nothing but struggles.
