Check out that Carnivale SX though. Those captains chair 2nd row seat are the bomb.

All the vehicles listed in this discussion come with 2nd row captains chairs (at minimum in the higher trims). I haven't seen a Carnivale in person (and I suspect the styling will be too minivan-like for my wife to approve) but I'm curious if you think they're better than the other options in the class?

I have a regular flooded battery in my Odyssey and I swear its the world's worst battery - discharges so quickly if you run the power doors, etc, without the engine running. End up using my booster pack like once every month or two. Seems to handle the cold fine, but man, what a pita - considering replacing it even though it seems to work fine.
|
I had a similar situation on a car parked outside. The remote starter's constant draw draws constant amps and as such it'll run flat in 3-4 days in -25 temps. Which leaves the battery vulnerable to freezing - which is bad in a lot of ways.
AGM has helped in this regard. They can freeze, but are less likely to than flooded cells. That and a battery warmer have solved this problem well enough - these are underappreciated. Just an Energizer AGM from Costco, nothing like an Optima.

Yeah it's a shame about the AWD. My mom has the 1.6T AWD Kona with the DCT and it's actually kinda fun.

The 2nd row captain s chairs in the Carnivale SX trim are fully reclining with foot rests . Can slide back and forth. Perhaps not much use for say a car seat but anything after car seat age on long roadies? It'd be a dream for those passengers to fully chill out or sleep comfortably enough to lessen the road weary boredom of a roadie.
As far as I know, none of the SUVs have this option.

Settle a debate for me re: red light laws in Alberta & the rules for entering on amber.
I know the city only issues camera tickets if you enter on red (ie enter on amber finish on red isn't ticketed) but is the actual law in line with that, or is that just to give them leeway?
Or is the law itself such that if you're in the intersection at all when red (going straight), you're in violation? (ie enter on amber, finish on red) Most online guides deciphering the Traffic Safety act seem to skirt this since road/speed/conditions come into play for ambers.

Someone else will probably be able to find the exact wording, but I got a ticket for failure to stop for an amber light a few years ago. The bylaw officer’s reasoning is that I had time to stop before the light turned red, even though as I entered the intersection the light was amber. Of course, it was a January morning and the intersection was icy, so instead of hammering on the breaks I went slowly through the intersection on yellow. I ended up fighting the ticket and the demerits were taken off but I still had to pay the $150 fine.

Same story for me, including an icy intersection and clearing the intersection before the light turned red. I got a ticket and went to fight it. I lost because yellow means stop. Red means stop, but yellow does, too, apparently. It's that simple (as the judge put it to me).

We looked at a Telluride. I have to admit that I was shocked at what you get for the money compared to say a Subaru Ascent. The interior is close to luxury quality and for a large vehicle you get a lot of equipment for the money. Ultimately we decided that it was too big for my wife's needs and ended up ordering a GV70. My plan of ordering a Bronco for her (secretly for me) is now over. Too bad because the Bronco I have on order will probably arrive before the GV70. IMO the Koreans have surpassed the Japanese as their tech is better and their interiors are closer to German quality and design.

Nice. I'm a big fan of Genesis as my mom has a Genesis sedan and it is a great car. I've always enjoyed driving or riding in it.

In other news it appears Tesla delivered a Model 3 to a woman without brakes.
https://www.zerohedge.com/markets/no...hout-brake-pad
Quote:
Gillmore put a few dozen miles on the Model 3 last month before contacting Tesla about "a grinding noise" coming from the driver-side rear wheel while driving. The Tesla Dealership on Florida Avenue in Tampa had no service appointments for inspection. They even told her the "noise was normal."
|
Quote:
She was fed up with Tesla's terrible service and took the Model 3 to an independent shop for inspection. Mechanics discovered "there wasn't an inside brake pad installed at the factory," she said, adding the "backside of the rotor and that side of the caliper are destroyed." At the time, the car only had 112 miles on it.

Hahahaha holy ####.
Apparently she's been waiting weeks for them to fix it but they're "waiting for parts"... it's a brake caliper and a rotor, how long does this take? Maybe it's a tougher thing because it's electric and the brakes are involved with the battery, I guess, but that's still insane.

Don't know why anyone would spend so much on a Tesla with their quality control issues right now, just seems like a big gamble

Were you able to get a sub-MSRP price on a Telluride? I've heard demand for these (less so the Pallisade weirdly enough) is insane. Kia salesmen affectionately refer to these as "Sellurides" since they don't need to do anything to move units....

Easy to see how this would slip through the cracks as Tesla doesn't perform a traditional PDI on vehicles.

Sub-MSRP is not going to happen in this current market.

Definitely did not get a deal. Just msrp and a super long wait.
Honestly, though, msrp on those is super fair imo. Liked it more than anything any other manufacturer had at any price.

We got our bronco right before Christmas. Ordered back in March. Liking it so far. It is NOT luxurious but has all the bells and whistles we need and should be awesome in the summer. Drives pretty comfortably on the highway and not terribly loud with the mic hardtop.

I assume you have MIC 2.0. How are the seams? Any signs of delamination?

Yeah, apparently it's the new one. Looks fine so far. No signs of delamination. I would hope if there's an issue in the next few years ford will take care of it. Wind noise at hwy speeds is acceptable to me so far.
