Dunno what your budget it, but I would just splurge on a super warm parka or puffer. Being cold is stupid. I wouldn’t worry about it “going,” but just get a neutral colour. When it’s cold outside nobody is judging whether your puffer matches your chinos.

Thank you. I saw some parkas/bombers with the faux fur hood and I think they are decently stylish. From Eddie Bauer. I’ll probably do that, there’s some Black Friday action going on right now.
Columbia stuff looks warm, but mostly looks likes straight up ski jackets.

Patagonia Nano-Air hoody. Good to about -20, weighs nothing, it's basically perfect for this city. I actually have a Patagonia hyper puff (which is good down to about -35) but they don't make that one anymore.

I have a puffy parka from Columbia
It is warmer than a warm thing in a warming contest.
Black and simple lines means it goes with pretty well anything.
I found it on sale for $100, a steal of a deal.

I have a Suitsupply navy pure wool peacoat that is surprisingly very warm in most situations. I can usually wear it at temperatures between -15 to 5 Celsius, which is good for about 80% of the winter here. I also have an Alpha cotton field jacket, which works for anything between -5 and 15 Celsius. For both of these coats, at the lower temperatures in those ranges, I usually make sure I'm wearing some layers underneath.
Anything below -15, I throw style out the window and wear my Nobis, down filled parka. Having proper boots, socks, gloves and scarf surprisingly also makes a huge difference.

I have a gorgeous wool overcoat that pairs nicely with a jacket/sport coat for real cold. Every man needs at least one overcoat that pairs well with their nicer attire.

I needed to share here the pretty great deal I scored on this pair of shoes at Saks Chinook. Last pair on the 30% off shelf and in my size. Hell yeah.
 
I need to get some shoe cream and polish on them before wearing them out.

I’ve had a few opportunities in the past several months to actually dress up a little and wear one of my nice pairs of dress shoes, and I absolutely loved every minute of it, I’ve missed it so much.

Yeah, fair. I mean I'm not limiting myself in terms of shoe style but I feel no particular urge to own anything made by anyone else, with the possible exception of a weird one-off custom shell, like a green AE or something.
I don't think they're all that chunky though, especially C+J's offerings. Just in comparison to stuff like the above that is very sleek and angular.

My Indy's are going to be my workhorse, I think, once the world finally returns to normal. Now that the ridiculous wait to get my first pair ordered is done, and the sizing is reassured, I want to get a couple more. Firstly the earth chamois.
I wish I could just buy shoes off the shelf in the relatively common sizes, but I can only really do that with AE and I'm bored with AE. Everything else is an order.
