I couldn't stand the first half, but it got a bit more interesting after the 'introduction of characters' part. All of the characters were just pretentious pricks except for Dane. I think that a lot of the problems stemmed from the Deviants being weak villains, and the script trying to turn boring characters into a deep character study. I actually didn't care who lived or died at any point.

Eternals wasn't a stand out. But it was a beautifully shot and directed movie with some good roles played. The Eternals are tough to make exciting. The Celestials were awesome. Straight out of the comic pages.
For me who enjoyed comics as a kid, seeing all the mega huge things come to life on screen is great. Tickles the childhood fantasy itch I guess.
Marvels always been primarily about executing some pretty grandiose visuals and seeing favorite characters come to life.
For example. Vinny Jones Juggernaught was an awful representation of the character. But Deadpool 2 gave the character justice.
I'm rambling. But visually, the Eternals for me was amazing.
The rest , meh.

Oddly enough I too recently watched Eternals and I have to concur.
That is one dog of a film. Its beautifully made but it is brutally boring and lame.
That was a slog to get through. It took actual effort to complete. I had to have an intermission.
It was slow, predictable and just generally uninteresting. The most interesting characters were the ones that got the least amount of time.

Yeah there are some nice shots in Eternals, but I wouldn't call it well-directed. It's mostly just posing, and none of the characters felt different from each other. Everyones got a quip. I know that's a Marvel thing, but other directors seem to have been able to mold the Marvel thing to their style. The dialogue mostly felt out of place to me.
The few cosmic scenes were pretty cool. Otherwise, meh. I wouldn't add it to my list of "necessary" Marvel movies.

Eternals just got released on Disney+. I'll definitely be watching it with reduced expectations. Love the Celestial lore, so hopefully there's at least 5-10 minutes of that to keep me entertained.

I didn't think it was a bad movie, but the stark brothers are bad actors, so that didn't help at all. And alot of these movies struggle with character introductions, having to do 8 of them in one film is a big ask.
I think the film's biggest crime was benching Kamil Mangiani for half the movie. He was the best character and best actor, only seconded by his assistant. But I also think they left a lot to work with, and sending the cast off in 3 different directions to participate in other movies was a good idea.
People weren't that hot on the Hulk movie or the First Antman or Dr Strange, but their characters are doing just fine within the other stories.

Saw it at Canyon Meadows finally recently.
It wasn't nearly as bad as (some) people made it out to be.
I am admittedly a huge sucker for Kit Harrington and Richard Madden, especially being graced with both in one film. I found myself just so giddy-happy that they were now part of the MCU that perhaps I was much more enamoured with what was going on than others might be.
The one thing really working against the film was terrible pacing. There were so many staring/gazing scenes that were oddly left in the final cut that could've been easily trimmed without losing anything, and if anything, probably would've enhanced the experience of the film by just chopping them out of the thing.
I wanted to yell at the Cersei character to do something rather than looking on blankly for god knows how many scenes.
The bigger story is kind of depressing to think about. And arguably makes Thanos look like not a bad guy for wanted to achieve what he did when you learn what the Celestials were up to.
I can see why that would suck the 'feel good' factor out of the film, which is often present in most MCU films.
I really liked the complexity of Madden's character. Usually MCU films are so pumped with humour that you don't get much prolonged seriousness (outside of IW & Endgame) which, if done right, can add something to the dynamic between characters (and if done poorly, you just get most DC films).
I liked most of the ensemble of characters, although Jolie's character was not well written, and I don't think Angelina really knew what to do with some of those scenes cause her character was so poorly developed. We just knew she was "Thena, goddess of war" which was repeated throughout the movie, but without the awareness that it means little or nothing to any one watching. It didn't detract too much from the story though. She added chaos to the fight scenes which wasn't necessarily a bad thing.
It's the character relationships that drive the whole thing, and luckily it has that going for it, for the most part.
I am invested in Kit's future in the universe and I hope it's significant.

I think that Nomadland worked because McDormand has a very expressive face. I am starting to think that Zhao's primary stage direction is, "Forlorn! Look more forlorn! You, over there, you don't think that I can see you, but I can. Look forlorn."
The banter was oddly cardboard as well. Nanjiani and Dong-seok have comedic chops, so they sold the dialogue better, but the rest of the cast struggled. Maybe Zhao shouldn't have written the script, and she might be effective forcing a little forlorn through more dynamic interaction.
I really wanted to like this, and there were moments that I genuinely did. I think that Chan and Harrington were the strongest part of the movie. After a month or so, I'm going to revisit and see if it ages well on a second viewing.

It's funny because I think we had the same general feelings about the film, but opposite specifics, those two specifically stood out as the worst part of the movie for me.
Pretty good film, but a little boring and moved the big story forward without telling too engaging of a story itself.

Isn't there already a Batgirl series on?
I'm confused.

I watched it Wednesday and your review is very much my feelings, plus the Kingo scene's were smile inducing. Otherwise a very bland experience, but that's what I expected out of the Eternals, just like their comic's.

After NWH destroyed the box office I'm now fully expecting Batverse
with Keaton, Bale and Pattinson hanging out with this Bat chick.

If Heath Ledger were still alive, a film with Jack Nicholson, Heath Ledger and Joaquin Phoenix as three Jokers would have made all the money.
This is the Batgirl in the DCEU. There are rumors that will show up in it.

There is a BatWOMAN series on TV. They are two different characters. The TV series currently on is a pile of unwatchable garbage, which is a shame, because Batwoman is a fascinating character, and watching the TV folks ruin her hurts a bit.

Considering the tweet explicitly references batgirl year one, it would be really weird if they adapted a totally different story.

Spider-Man No way Home and the Hawkeye series have rejuvenated my MCU interest after some so-so projects; Black Widow, Shang-Chi, Falcon and The Winter Soldier and What If.. were just meh for me. WandaVision and Loki were fine.
No Way Home was amazing and absolutely adored Hawkeye

Yes, I thought it rather odd that they had a Year One quote, with her Burnside costume. If they are doing Year One, use that costume. If they are going Burnside (and God I hope they don't) then stay the course.

Actually now that I think about it, it will definitely be based on Burnside. Year One was too good for DC to want to use it. Plus, Burnside was basically written as a woke pre teen comic so you just know that’s what they’ll aim for. Lighthearted, smarmy, smack talking hipster Barbara Gordon with none of the “victim complex” the character is famous for. This won’t be a brooding bat or one with actual life problems. It’ll be similar in tone to Holland’s Spider-Man.
