Ah this is the classic Flames we all know. This iteration of the team has a knack making the opposition’s struggling goaltender look like Vezina candidate. I’ve said that more times than I can remember.

Conversely, Nick Paul floats one past Markstrom for the go ahead goal. There’s no excuses this season, you’re the better team. So go out and be better.

Honestly, what is the problem with us and playing on Saddledome ice.

The Flames' shooting percentage in their own building over the last couple seasons must be like 6%. They have to absolutely dominate just to put up 3 goals in a 3-2 eke-r.

I think the biggest problem is we have one passenger on each of the 2nd and 3rd lines, and a completely ineffective fourth line when Lucic and Lewis are together.

None of the bottom 9 lines have worked well together this season.

Pitlick-Backlund-Coleman (49.4% xGF%) hasn’t worked

Mangiapane- Dube - Richie (49.8% xGF%) hasnt worked

Lucic - Monahan - Lewis has been terrible (43.4% xGF)

Rolling out those three lines tonight is asking for trouble as none of them work together.

The effort to have a more balanced bottom 9 has just led to all three lines being bad.

Mangiapane- Backlund - Coleman has been great (66.3% xGF)

Lucic - Dube - ??? Have been great as a pair (68.8% xGF), and Monahan has been fine with them too (64.2% xGF)

Keep those groups, plus Gaudreau-Lindholm-Tkachuk together and the team will be fine.

Trying to force Pitlick, Ritchie, etc further up the lineup just hasn’t worked all season. Keep the 4th liners on the 4th line, it happens every time with Richie. Looks good on 4th line, play him in the middle 6 and he turns into a Pumpkin.

Ritichie was a bit slow by a good save by Murray. Murray got a price of JG's chance and Backlund missed a wide open net high, after shooting high from the low slot 4 mins earlier. Cam be argued Flames had much better chances, Sens scored on 2 of their 3 good chances while Flames didn't finish any of their 5 good chances.

This team can't afford so many long breaks. Sutter has to re-establish system and pace and all of that every week between games with all of the time off.

Not enough talent to be able to work into it. They are either on or off, no in-between.

For sure, he's been brutal this year. And non-elite goalies usually finish 4th in Vezina voting. If you're not top 3, you're terrible.

Put Mangiapane back on the 2nd line. Spreading the talent around the bottom 3 lines has just made them all bad

He was going to the bench for a line change because Backlund had control.

He scored 20-30 from the slot finding quiet areas of the ice. Problem for him is, he needs someone to transport the puck onto his stick and there isn’t anyone who can do that for him except #13.
