Flames vs Senators, 7:00 PM, MST. Sportsnet West, Fan 960
Might as well get this underway.
Flames are playing their first home game in about 12 years tonight and Ottawa hasn't played a single game since New Year's Day, so expect a lot of rust tonight. Looks like everyone is back in the healthy column for Calgary.

FLAMES
Gaudreau-Lindholm-Tkachuk
Coleman-Backlund-Pitlick
Mangiapane-Dube-Ritchie
Lucic-Monahan-Lewis
Hanifin-Andersson

Markstrom
SENATORS
Tkachuk-Norris-Batherson
Formenton-Paul-C Brown
Sanford-Gambrell-Watson
Ennis-Tierney-Sabourin
Chabot - Bernard-Docker

Discuss. Go Flames

I want a thorough Sutter-ing. Relentless checking, tons of shots, Ottawa struggles to cross our blue line. 3-1 Calgary.

This has the potential to be an ugly win, but it need to be a win nonetheless.

I was thinking the exact same thing!! Another middle 9 winger would be nice, as it is clear we are missing one maybe two.

These are just as much of a test for me as the games against the top teams. The Flames should be burying this team. Like it should not be close. Start to finish in their end. Not playing down to a bad opponent is a mark of a strong team.

If you want to fit in you can start spamming arbitrary doom and gloom.

Congratulations to Pitlick promotion to the 2nd line
Very few jobs in the world where you suck at your job and get a promotion
I guess the same can be said with Ritchie

Not sure the Flames have a second line.
Looks more like two thirds and a fourth to me.

Backlund and Coleman are paid like 2nd line?
Pretty sure someone told me they scored like 2nd liners also
But I agreed with you

Agreed. They could cobble together a Coleman - Dube - Mangiapane decent second line, but the bottom six would look really rough.

Still a third line no matter how you mix and match

I want to see that line.
The days of Monahan and Backlund in the top 6 are behind us. I'd like to see if Dube could potentially be there. Give the lad our best two bottom 9 wingers, and see what happens. At the very least the 2nd line would be able to push the pace and outskate the opposition.

It's absolutely amazing the Flames are playing over .600 hockey with almost all road games if they are as bad as some of you think

agree to disagree I guess but Coleman-Backlund (maybe Dube)- Mangiapane is not a 3rd line (clarifying that I think it is a 2nd line, not worse than a 3rd line) at least IMO, but we can go round and round on that argument
I do concede they way they have constructed the lines they have diluted matters so there isn't a bonafide 2nd line... in large part due to the fact we are missing at least one top 6-7 type forward (ideally more than one , but really missing one, IMO again)
