Caleb Williams is a gifted young athlete and he will only get better. But a lot of my fellow Sooners are crying about a dude that barely beat Kansas. Good QB, not great. Can be replaced. Just like Rylie. Good Coach, not great, replaceable

But he is going to USC. USC's QB just entered the transfer portal.

I would have. But it's a tougher call in college vs. the NFL, with the OT format, the timing differences with clock stoppages for first downs in college, and the 20 yard EP versus a 33 yard EP. But yeah I'll always prefer the choice that gives my team control of the outcome rather than ceding it to the other team. I'm sure had Alabama come back and won there'd be a lot of debate over that choice. Instead, it's a footnote.

I would guess that College is a different set of analytics given that the clock can stop more often, and that the extra point is a shorter kick and better guarantee.

Considering that the Georgia kicker had no issue kicking touch backs, I'm not sure why you take the penalty on the kickoff and proceed to pound it into the stands. I would either try for the two to go up by 9 and force a two score game. The other less likely thing I hope to see one day is a surprise onside kick from the 50. You might get the ball back..you might now, but it only cost you like 10-15 yards from the touch back.

Statistically it depend on the success rates of 2 point conversions.

If it's greater than 50% that you will successfully convert then you should go for it because that means the likelihood is that you get the 2 points and have a 2 score game.

But if it's less than 50% I guess the play would be to kick the field goal, take the 8 point lead, and force them to have to convert on a 2 pt conversion.
