league standings are really irrelevant too, points percentage they are #2 in their division. Home ice in round one.

They had a strong room, which is why the players told management they didn't want him back. It takes a strong room to do something like that. If you believe the reports of course. A weak room would be too passive and meek to stand up like that, especially against someone who was a regular contributor on the scoreboard.

Was gonna say - points or points percentage - it really only matters versus the divisional and conference teams. And there's a lot more parity in the west - points are harder to come by.

Agreed. I don't know his history in Atlanta but he has made negative headlines for every team that followed:
Winnipeg, Buffalo and now San Jose.

I think it's safe to assume that whoever brings this guy on does it on a 1-year deal to mitigate any risk at less than market value. He may do enough to encourage said team to sign him to a longer-term deal following this season, but my guess is his behaviour returns to the mean.

Seeing a lot of people here wouldn't want him, how do you feel if he goes up north?

I get that he's been a dbag but we need an RW desperately and to be able to get one for next to nothing is a no brainer for me. This is the season you take any chances even if it were to make a deal with the devil, because next season, if we don't have Gaudreau, Monahan is likely gone, Tkachuk if rumors are true he doesn't want to be here long term, etc etc. We're likely looking at a refresh of a team next year or the year after.
