^^^^^ Well forget the Canadian aspect, lol. I love the show so far, but ****ing hollywood and their need to make everything America.
I was visibly frustrated watching the first episode. At first I just thought they weren't mentioning Toronto too much, but it would be revealed at some point. Then I saw the Chicago Subway and noticed Jeevan wearing a Cubs toque and realized those cowards switched Toronto out for Chicago.
I mean even if the whole book was in Toronto I could accept it because hollywood needs movies/TV set south of the border. But what really pissed me off about this is that literally the first episode (couple chapters of the book) are set in Toronto before they move on to......THE UNITED STATES!.
Like **** right off, they couldn't even stay true to a Canadian author setting the beginning of a book in Canada. Nope, too much international stuff for damn American viewers, gotta change that 40 minutes of the series to USA USA USA!.
"Yeah, so this book is 10% in Canada and 90% in America, I'm gonna have to go ahead and get you to make that more a 100/0 split, that'd be great, thaaaanks".
Sorry for the rant, just so frustrating. And what makes it worse is I strongly feel that American viewers aren't as a "rah rah America" about locations as hollywood thinks. Nobody watching this down south would blink if it was Toronto vs Chicago as the starting point of the series.
I swear 50% of script writing in hollywood is "what part of America will we showcase with this series/movie, this is our most important decision!!".

Even American movies about the Underground Railroad tend to leave out a lot about Canada. If it weren’t for those Canadian Heritage Minutes, you’d think Canada had no involvement.
However, if you’d like the opposite of the “ra-ra-America”, I’d recommend a “Handmaid’s Tale”. I don’t know if the change would be refreshing, as it does seem to hit you over the head as Canada being a beacon of light and hope.

But as I get more into it I would highly recommend it to anyone, not just those who read the book. Excellent series. What a nice surprise that canadian actress Mackenzie Davis plays Kirstin. Love her.

Station Eleven is fantastic, completely agree. Going to pick up the book after this season is done.
I’ve also become obsessed with Yellowjackets, I know it was mentioned earlier as being too slow but It’s paying off in my mind. It is a slow burn but so many mysteries coming together later in the season here.

Her and Adam driver were hilarious in the F Word. Mostly Driver but they seemed to have good chemistry. Pretty decent rom com with Harry Potter in the lead role. And it’s Canadian!
So I'm 3 episodes in and struggling, it's a very slow show so far. Does it pick up in the 4th or is this just a slow burn series?
It kind of stays at this level. I am not sure it will change enough from now (I am on ep. 8) to change your kind. I think it all starts coming together though.
Around the World in Eighty Days premiered on PBS last night. After one night I can say it's gonna be a FUN series!
I just wanted to say thanks for your post on this - we checked it out and liked it a lot. In fact, since it’s already aired in the UK, I ended up finding all episodes to do a three night binge watch.
I’ve always been a fan of David Tennent’s, and this doesn’t change that.
