I agreed. At this point though he could be benched and give a young player a chance? It is pitiful to see him playing like this after all his glorious years.

Vladar clearly doesn't have it tonight. Maybe starting Wolf would have been the better move than starting the same goalie on back to back nights?

On the bright side, hopefully this trip will be a huge wake up call for the front office.

Sutter has said many times that the team is not good enough.

Treliving and co need to get off their hands and do something about it.

I know it’s probably already been discussed but why wasn’t Markstrom started?

The sad bubble exit wasn't.

Last season wasn't.

Why would this road trip finally wake them up to the roster changes that are needed?

Maybe this road trip is what we all look back on in June as they get ready for the Stanley Cup final.

Maybe?

Tweaked something while taking his jersey off and walking away right before he was abducted by aliens.

Looking at the roster and there’s just certain things that are hard to overcome:

$5.25M bottom six LW (Lucic)
$6.375M bottom six C (Monahan)
$5.35M bottom six C (Backlund)
$3.75M bottom pairing defenceman (Zadarov)
$1.95M bottom pairing defenceman (Gudbranson)

That is a lot of money on the bottom half of the roster, and I just don’t know how you overcome something like that. If you look at how Carolina has it spread around, almost everyone they have slotted in the same spots as us are significantly better players.

I agree with all but Gudbranson.

Maybe Backlund will step up and lead by example with two goals…

Sure.

1.95 isn't a lot for a steady #5

Pretty tough spot to put Wolf in...and likely a worse result

Gudbranson has been extremely shaky of late ... underlyings have heavily regressed. Back to what he was before this season — a depth guy.

I would gamble on the Wolf.

Have a special feeling about that kid.

Fair points. I think the bubble was never going to be a true indicator- too much of an outlier at a strange time in human history. Last season certainly was a better indicator.

At least they changed the coach.

Backlund 2/9 on faceoffs tonight.
Monahan at 31%
Lindholm at 40%.
Ruzicka at 20%.
