Wasn't able to watch the game, but has Markstrom look good at all the past 3 games? Bob was the better goalie tonight.

1/4 of the team is replacement level so it's kinda expected

When is the last time you said something positive about the team? Either you really need to take a break from hockey because clearly you aren't enjoying it or you aren't a Flames fan. Why watch if you aren't having fun?

He looked rusty like the rest of the team against Seattle but he was neither good or bad. He was fine against Chicago. Tonight he let in six goals but sometimes you have those nights where you let in a lot of goals but not necessarily have a bad game. I didn't see the last one though so I can't comment on it.

Win the next game and all is well.

I guess Markstrom would like one or maybe two of the goals back tonight but man, he made some huge saves at times tonight to keep the Flames in it. I guess those get overshadowed when the team loses, then it's a lot easier to say he sucked or whatever. He sure wasn't the reason the team lost.
The Flames didn't have their best game, especially defensively, and when you do that against the best home team in the league you're pretty much guaranteed a loss.
Florida has a very very good team that just comes at you in waves. Whatever, move along to the next one.

It's why people say goalie is a thankless position.

This is like the most positive thing you have said in 4 pages of your recent posts lol. Your post ratio when the Flames lose are 10:1 than when they are winning.

Nothing about not taking the truth, the team is what it is. They aren't really a contender but they if the players get going at the right time then they could make some noise in the playoffs and they aren't going to rebuild unless they are forced too. That is my baseline and they are having a better season than I expected.
So you have fun complaining or trolling, sounds fun.

I’m in agreement, this absolutely was a measuring stick game much like the Vegas game and the Flames didn’t match up. Both sides were saying it before the game and both sides came out with their fists flying which made for a very entertaining first. Personally, I thought the game was more competitive than the score suggested at the end though.
But like I’ve said before and will be saying many times going forward, this team is so reliant on one line every game which to put it simply, is unsustainable. Against the lower level teams, it works. But when you’re up against a team with the same big horses up front, but also have great depth to supplement your top players, then you’re going to win games where the top lines cancel each other out and that’s what happened tonight.
Barkov and Huberdeau didn’t win the game for Florida, it was their depth guys that did. Lomberg, Carlsson, Thornton, Hornqvist all scored tonight. Who in the bottom 6 scored for Flames tonight? Nobody. They were mostly minuses. So if you’re going to constantly get scored on while providing nothing offensively, then it’s no surprise that we’re losing against the elite teams of the league.
There are some major upgrades that the Flames will have to make if they want to go deep into the playoffs this season. This is probably the most confident I’ve been with this core in a long time, they’re close. I’d trade be trading picks and prospects at the deadline to shore up the weaknesses if I was Treliving. If the right moves are made, maybe we’ll see Florida in the finals this spring/summer.

Markstrom would have had to keep them at 1 to win this game...he wasn't great but hardly the reason they lost
Flames have really set themselves up with the best record in the Pacific despite the toughest schedule

I'm a little concerned that Markstrom has a .888sv% over the last 6 games. Hopefully he rebounds soon with a couple of big games. It's not that he has been bad per say, but I expect more from him after the start he had.
In this game it seemed that the Andersson - Hanifin pairing as well as the 4th line were exposed or simply didn't play as sharp. I don't like the combination of Ritchie with Monahan, because they seem to have very bad communication in the D zone.
I actually think that Backlund needs some sort of a jump start. Coleman was having a great game, but playing with Backlund and Pitlick is not really working out offensively. I really want to see if we can get a Tkachuk - Backlund - Mangiapane line. At the same time we can have Coleman with Gaudreau and Lindholm for a couple of games. I'm sure the coaches know better than me, but we need to get consistent production out of a 2nd line. In addition, I would like Mangiapane get a bump to the first PP unit in place of Monahan.

Scary to think that wasn't even the full Florida roster that ran up the score on the flames.
Curious to see how this group responds next game against another strong opponent.
