FBI files implicate Bobby Kennedy in Marilyn Monroe's death

Australian journalist and film-maker Philippe Mora discovers declassified FBI files which seem to suggest that a handful of people conspired to induce Marilyn Monroe's suicide in order to protect Bobby Kennedy's reputation.

...on the day of her death, Kennedy flew from Los Angeles to San Francisco via Western Airlines and checked into the St Charles Hotel. He then made a phone call from the hotel "to Peter Lawford to find out if Marilyn was dead yet".

Lots of other lurid details in the FBI files as well such as Monroe's early sex tape, lesbian affair, and Joe DiMaggio's plan to kill RFK after he left office.

The head of the FBI, Herbert Hoover was a crossdresser, not that there is anything wrong with that, but at the time it was considered perverted and may have led to his blackmailing ways in order to protect his career. I don't believe anything that came from the FBI during that period as they were known liars when it suited them and Kennedy was going to fire him.

But it was field operatives who wrote the reports, not Hoover. What incentive did they have to falsify information that was to be classified anyway?

icarus, you can believe what you want but these operatives were under a tight rein and did what they were told. Framing someone was just part of the game. J. Edgar used them to stay in power by getting as much as he could on his enemies, the truth didn't have much to do with it.
As far as it being classified, leaks happen all the time, it's just a matter of if they are convenient or not. Look at the Valerie Plame case.
