Agreed.
It's known as "novel coronavirus" because it's NEW.
NOBODY has a "natural immunity" to it.

My face is a bum!

So now that the whole team has had it, should be good at least until next season's super-variant?

I'm curious as to how the WHOLE team basically got it.
Until the Flames outbreak we haven't seen such a large scale group all get it within a few days.
I doubt the Flames would ever release the timeframe/idea behind when they got it.. but its crazy that everyone caught the Omicron variant at basically the same time.

But aren't we hearing that this thing spreads at Rnot of 4x, not really that surprising for a group of men that travel and sweat together.

Taking a while to get to 5000

Friedman said the Flames were dealing with that, yes

We are... but why have no other teams who also sweat and travel together go into anything on the scale the Flames have?
Just seems odd the Flames have like 25+ now between players, coaches and staff. Not a single team is even close to that... yet perhaps?

All it takes is one with any variant, the Flames got the omicron which is incredibly more contagious than previous variants and boom now the whole team basically got it. Not really shocking when you look at Britain reporting their highest daily reported infections since the pandemic began. Thankfully the Flames/League caught it when they did and shut the Flames down for the week otherwise it could have gotten much worse across the league.

Well, this has been going on awhile now. The players are all at least double vaxed. I think literature supports that people who had covid-19 and then got vaxed have better immunity than those who are vaxed alone.
He wasn't saying Coleman is some sort of anti-covid mutant, just that he's had it before which probably gives a bit of extra immunity.

Ontario omicron R(t) is currently 4.55 (so every person infected, gives it to 4.55 people). Wouldn't take very long to infect a whole team. Delta was never anywhere near that.

Regular reminder that being double-vaxxed does not mean impervious to infection, but rather helps lessen the chances of contracting it, softens the symptoms, shortens the recovery time, and helps mitigate potential long-term damage better than being unvaxxed.
Hoping for a speedy recovery so that we can get back to hockey.

Wonder what the reasoning was to not worry about sporting venues.

Cause family gatherings aren't going to have employees standing at the door checking for vaccinations.

The way this thing ripped through the Flames, it seems to me highly improbable it's not ripping through the general population right now. Which is a good thing if very few are getting overly sick from it.

well being vaccinated obviously isn't going to keep someone from getting the new strain, and half the time the person checking your QR code doesn't check your ID too closely, if at all.
(They may be more diligent at sporting events. I don't know. )

Opening up Christmas this much for both vaccinated and unvaccinated could and likely will spread this new variant like wildfire.

I think it’s Sutter’s doing. Like he made a deal with the team that if they were first in the division they would claim Covid positive cases and everyone could have an extra long Christmas break. Then come back and March into the playoffs!
Hope everyone stays healthy this holiday. Crazy times

Hockey Gods clearly think Sutter hockey is too overpowered for this league. Told us to take a knee.
