It seems that the easiest and most profitable course of action would be to just cancel/reschedule 10-14 days worth of games for each team it goes through, and continue on.
It's more anecdotal proof the vaccine works. More proof that it is a life saver and that it prevents serious negative outcomes.
Further to that, I don't think fan attendance should be restricted either. You need to be vaccinated to attend games. Any person, with any deductive reasoning ability can see that the vaccine works. It is time to leave the minority that choose to remain unvaccinated behind. It is what they have chosen; so be it. The 85% majority should no longer keep paying the price to protect them. Refuse them ICU care if need be. And I say this with almost my entire extended family choosing to remain unvaccinated

I concur with this 100% As someone who works in the international travel sales business, I've felt the effects of this pandemic quite significantly.
What's frustrating to me of late is that many countries had measures in place to keep tourists and locals safe, req'd proof of being fully vaccinated, negative PCR test before leaving home, in some cases a rapid test on arrival, then a PCR test done before starting the journey home. Despite all these safety checks and balances, Omicron has caused for even more measures and some closed borders, once again. Knee jerk reaction to something that existing measures were already in place for.
Point being, people who follow the measures to partake in society safely should be able to continue doing so. Otherwise this becomes a broken record playing the never ending story. Omicron is certainly not the last 'variant of concern' with covid-19 so how could anyone believe that any other variants be treated any differently?

We have tickets to bring our kids to their first NHL game. The Oilers game on the 27th. We are only in Calgary for a few days. Was going to surprise them for Christmas.

As long as all players/staff remain asymptomatic, which I really hope is the case, the Flames have been the luckiest covid-infected team so far to get their games rescheduled, while every other team has had to play a number of games with some players in covid protocol. In some cases, missing many players (including their top guys), whereas the Flames had their games immediately postponed and should be able to ice a full lineup once they're back.
Just unfortunate timing because I had tickets to the Christmas game and New Years gane.

If we’re all vaccinated we can go on living and not worry about COVID anymore.

It’s beyond frustrating anymore, had people just realized that this was something bigger than them and gotten the vaccine when first available to them we’d be past this. But alas we are heading into the 5th waive and Wte number of variant now with no end in sight. What’s America at right now?? 60 percent fully vaccinated? Embarrassing… 1200 dying a day, 100K newly contracted every single fricken day. Enough enough already make it mandatory to get the vaccine.

The tests are done automatically, not because there are suspicions of infection. One is done every three days, regardless. One is done before any on ice activity and is a rapid pcr.
First one showed a false negative. Second one showed a positive.
This is the NHL protocol. This is what every team does. The test comes in when the test comes in. No team has waited after getting that initial negative. A bigger issue would be the Canes who had players who said they weren't feeling well before their test. Played anyways. Tests came back positive after the fact but they didn't pull them off the ice.

what I found interesting is the part of the article that stated
"Last week, Dr. Kieran Moore, the province’s top medical official, had recommended to the government that family gatherings inside a home be restricted to 10 or less while not lowering capacity limits of sports venues."
Wonder what the reasoning was to not worry about sporting venues.
