If they're all asymptomatic, then the only reason they were caught is because of testing. Makes me wonder how many of the rest of us vaccinated are walking around infected without even knowing it.

Are they all asymptomatic? That would be very encouraging.

This is a good point with so many positives happening in sports where they are testing asymptomatic people. That said - in the Flames case - they were asymptomatic the day of the positive tests (or at least when the results were given to the media) - and Treliving didn't really give out an answer during his presser - so some may have developed symptoms in the meantime.

^ Tre said they all felt fine
But yes, symptoms could have developed over the past 24 hours etc

I think the fact that there was very little covid action in the NHL until this large outbreak probably works against that suspicion. If we are all walking around infected but unknowing, why would the NHL suddenly detect them now, and not a month or 2 ago? Now, maybe there are a lot more unknown community cases today, and it's been detected at the NHL level.

The NHL tests players every three days. General population don't get tested unless they're symptomatic. What he said makes sense to me.

But if nothing has changed, why are they suddenly having so many issues now? They've been testing every 3 days since September. If his hunch about it only being detected because they are the ones testing, there should be a steady level of positives since September. That's not the case.

An outbreak is just that though, an outbreak. If it still remains true that all the players are asymptomatic, the only reason this particular outbreak was caught was because of the random testing. Outbreaks in the general population among vaccinated could be going undetected. I think it's jut one of those things that make you go hmmmmm.

I saw a study out or Iceland in the summer of 2020. They tested 1000 or something random asymptomatic people and something around 40% came back positive.
I bet you some of us have had it already.

Marchand and Bergeron both in protocol…..the Bruins are primed for a slump without those two if the team keeps playing.

I wonder how many players opted for the J+J vaccine this summer? They are considered fully vaxed with one dose, but it is less effective against the variants.

I gotta think that up to and including the Seattle game will be postponed.
Which really sucks, but this is now the world we live in.
How long did the last pandemic last?

Hopefully not, that would mean our first game back after nearly 3 weeks off would be the Oilers.
