This game is a prime example of when McDrai isn't going, don't put them on the ice together.
So many not only bad McDavid defensive plays, but just plain lazy plays. A good leader, one that gives a crap, during a 5 game losing streak will do anything to turn it around even backcheck hard.

So where everything went perfectly for the Oilers, Smith with a near decade high in scpct, Nurse with a ungodly shooting percentage and a lot of fluke goals. a unsustainable powerplay.
Well the year started off the same way. But their powerplay has disintegrated. Smith goes out and they get inconsistent goaltending. Their bottom 9 vanishes, their blueline is battered and looks awful.
Now McDavid has the 1000 mile hobo stare from couple of years ago. Draisaitl has cooled off. I bet things in the dressing room are real fun with McDavid yelling at players and them telling him to maybe backcheck once in a while.
How long til we hear from McDavid's agent demanding that the Oilers makes some trades to support the Connor.
I get that the Flames are in the middle of a slump as well, but this Oilers thing was expected, not to brag but I predicted it, but was shocked by a hot start where they looked bad most of the time. The slide tastes good man, just so good.
