Perhaps with a bit of creativity, they could have 13-14 skaters available?

They don’t have enough players to put 18 players + 2 goalies out right now, so they might be able to use the emergency call up rule now…

I would be surprised if more games aren't postponed.

I've only skimmed through this thread so I apologize if it's even been brought up, but just a thought I had.
I could see situations like this being a reason for the NHL not to send players to China for the Olympics.
1. Reduce the risk of Covid spread and avoid more missed time from teams.
2. Using that 2-3 week gap to schedule in postponed games.
As much as I'm a sucker for international hockey and the chance to see Crosby, McDavid, Stamkos, etc. on a team, I don't think the NHL follows through.

You have to play 1 game before using the emergency call up rule (outside of cap implications).
So the flames could adjust the roster by sending Froese down and call up someone more expensive (Pelletier?), play the one game, and then call up a bunch of players making less than $850,000 for any following games before the rest of the players can come back.

I don’t see how we play before the Christmas break. This might not be the last of the cases either.

I'll play for the Flames for free.
Don't think I have the foot speed anymore. The groin gives me some problems. Pretty out of shape.
But I still got a decent shot. I'll be the Flames Ovi standing at the circle ripping one-timers

Good on looch to make that post and help put the fans slightly at ease. Still early days, but good to hear that some of the players have their booster shot as well.

Weren’t a couple of Hurricanes players already on the Covid protocol list previously? How far back was that?

Let’s hope they all have backyard rinks to keep themselves skating and touching pucks.

It isn't up to the NHL, it is up to the NHLPA. I think you will ultimately get a split of some players deciding not to go while secondary choices that normally wouldn't get the chance will jump at the opportunity.
