Coach Darryl Sutter & Flames Coaching Staff
I was watching the Carolina feed when the Flames played the Hurricanes a few nights ago and one of the things they mentioned was that Darryl goes back to the ranch/farm on days off and between games.
If he's not around then who's in charge? The way the team's been playing it does appear that they may have taken the foot of the gas.
Is it because Darryl isn't here on off days?
Who's in charge of the scouting of the other teams and doing preparations?

Maybe Kirk Muller handles the team in Darryl's absence. The team hasn't been very good on home ice for a while so I don't think it's a Darryl thing.

The team reads calgarypuck and then goes out and practices all the shortcomings mentioned in the PGT

I was thinking Kirk as well and would hope the team isn't slacking off just because Darryl isn't around.
Going by media availability and interviews it does appear that Sutter is here quite a bit so I guess I was a bit surprised to hear that he heads back to the farm or maybe it's not a regular thing.

They may well have been talking about non-skating days. Viking is 3.5-4 hours away - I doubt Sutter is making that trip as much as they made it appear.

I think Darryl’s absence is a bit of a misnomer.
It’s not a M-F, 9 to 5 gig.
What for most of us would be a weekend might be one day mid week for players and coaches.
I doubt Sutter is skipping practices or meetings. More likely a day off for the team is his day off too. And while some take an Uber to their downtown apt for a good nights rest he drives back to the farm. Longer commute, same idea.
There’s no need for a fill in, just a dude with a demanding schedule going home when he can.

Yes, for sure.
He’s there 98% of the time and he’s in charge!
You have to be pretty gullible to extrapolate that he’s not, because an opponent’s color analyst intimating something loosely related.

All I can get

The team keeps a few chickens and fatted calves in the old Stampede horse barns so that the Jolly Rancher doesn't get homesick.

Maybe an unpopular opinion, but I’m not worried about the way they’ve played at home. In fact, I think they’ve played well. The bounces haven’t gone their way and they’ve have had issues finishing.
I think if they keep playing the same way, the results will come.

No ones taking feet off of gas pedals. No way does anyone get away with anything with Darryl around or not.
Muller , Huska , MacLean are all on the same page and Conroy talks way too much for things to be left without constant attention.
Can you imagine Conroy NOT telling anyone. He has to have a terrible poker face.
Hey Conny....whats happening?
Conroy....Ummm.....huh.....well.....
Seriously Craig ...its written all over your face.
Conroy ....well the fellas didn't want a bag skate today so.....
Oh boy ....Craig Craig Craig...lol.
Now with this latest update with the team in Rona protocols ....I'm sure the rest of the team will be doing they're best to stay in shape especially if guys aren't in that rough of shape (fingers crossed) and only being asymptomatic according to the one and only Eric Francis.
This won't be the only lull during the season leaving doubt and fear amongst fans , followers ,etc.
They'll be fine.
