Flames recall Byron Froese. Valimaki sent to Stockton
There needs to be a corresponding move as the Flames were at 23 players before this move. Someone sent down or put on IR.

Prolly Ruzicka going down.
Thought he played well.

Giving some of the 'veteran' Stockton boys a turn with the big club.
I know everyone wants to see Pelletier (me included), but if you call up the kids all the time, the vets start to ask why they're bothering. Gotta give them a turn to keep them motivated.
Pelletier will be here soon enough.

This is a short term assignment. When Pelletier is called up, I predict it will be permanent

Wouldn't have minded giving Duerr another look-see.
Pitlick wasn't at morning practice, so he's likely IR bound.

Insert Ryan Reynolds "But why?" gif.
I assume Ruzicka is going back down. I thought he played well, but they probably want him playing top line minutes.

Yeah, this is precisely why they have Froese around.
A little extra Xmas cash for Byron too, though not as big a raise as most of the boys down there would have gotten.

He's doing much better than he did last year. Good for Byron Froese, even if he doesn't get playing time.

Gotta be Ritchie going to LTIR otherwise why not just leave Vali in Stockton? What would have been the point in calling him back up? I guess we’ll find out shortly here!

Were the lines in the GDT based on morning skate? If so, Ruzicka is still here.

Ritchie has been out for sometime, and isn’t LTIR retroactive as well? That makes the most sense.
Good to see players getting rewarded for playing well down in the minors as well. Wouldn’t mind Gawdin getting another look as well, if the situation arises.

Considering that pace is the biggest thing for him, I think playing ten minutes a night at NHL pace is better for his development than playing 22 minutes a night at AHL pace.
If I were the Flames I reward Ruzicka for a strong night in San Jose with at least another chance to continue to improve.

which likely means that there is a forward nursing an injury and Froese is insurance in case that forward can't play tonight.

Taking a while to get to 5000
|
I mean, given what they said about Valimaki needing to play a lot this make sense. But why bring him back? Did they think Kylington was hurt worse than he was?
Odd.
