Default WHA still kicking around, believe it or not.

I suppose with the Fort Saskatchewan Traders moving to St. Albert next year, the WHA's junior league will try to put a team in Fort Sask. Not that it will ever play a game, mind you, as the travel costs of going from suburban Edmonton to the Pacific Northwest for every single road trip is just a tad ridiculous.

On the whole, it is good to know that the WHA is as stable and upstanding as ever.

THe owner of the traders was on the team 1260 yesterday, their attendance was around 324 a game and "inflated" by 125 volunteers, he said it was brutal, didn't say why, but that it wasn't viable to keep a team in the fort anymore, how is this going to make things better :P.

From what I have read from Traders fans - who admittedly arent quite neutral - the new owner was nothing but a carpetbagger who bought the team with the exclusive intention of relocating to St. Albert. Sounds like he spent the last couple years cutting ties with the community, possibly to cut support.

As far as the WHA goes, I have no idea why they would even want to bring Jr B level hockey into Alberta. There isnt a town in this province that doesnt already have a team that is at least a match to the calibre of hockey the WHA currently provides. Least of all the Edmonton region, with the NHL, WHL, AJHLx3 and the Capital Jr. B league.
