I want to see Adam Ruzika in the lineup as well. We'll probably see him on this roadtrip at some point.

Does anyone, outside the organization, really know what kind of surgery Monahan had? I just assumed it was arthroscopic to clean up a labral tear. A lady on overtime last week was talking like he had his hip replaced, which is unlikely. That's historically a career ender. Ed Jovanovski tried one season at the end if his career after hip resurfacing but only played a handful of games.

I think he might have had osteonecrosis and may indeed have need the ball of his femur replaced (or something equally invasive). Same thing Bo Jackson and Floyd Landis had.

The hip works but the pain is unbearable. Fixing it is big surgery so I can understand why he tried to live with it as long as he did.

I base that on no inside info or expertise, the descriptions and media reports just seem to line up.

Interesting thought and this could be the best speculation on it yet. The surgery for this in the hip joint sounds a lot like what Yzerman had done to his knee and it took months on crutches before he could even work out then daily therapy of 6 hours for another couple months.

If this is what his injury was then it could explain how the team is working him back into the lineup on a slower basis. Thanks for mentioning this.

Will be interesting to see if sutter can turn him into something more than a trigger man. Looks like giving him better linemates helps.

Pitlick to 4th line is a good idea.
Last night was the first decent game he has played this year. I want to see more before I decide that contract is not an albatross at this point.

Sean Meanahan IMHO epitomizes, do what you can, with what you have, where you are. Bottom 6 role form a top 6 role, embraces it and improves game over game. Truly a Flames warrior in my eyes.

And has never complained. Ever. About anything.

Just shows up for work and does what he's told.

Always believed that Coleman and Monny were destined to be lined up together. Just need a more productive RW. You know who would work.well there? Kravstov. Flippin trade for the kid .

I'd prefer they bring up Pelletier and put him at LW while moving Coleman to RW where he's more comfortable. The Flames' good start has given them some wiggle room in the standings to try playing around with inserting some young blood.

Nah, he’s had a handful of good games that didn’t happen to get the same production. In fact, IMO his 200 foot game has been better every game than in previous years.

This is an interesting thought. He wouldn't necessarily need the hip replaced if caught early enough. The first surgeries seem to involve grafts or drilling holes. These would be major surgeries but not as major as resurfacing or replacement.

Thought Monahan had easily his best game of the season last night or at the very least, his most productive. There was a real sense of hunger and purpose in his game. When he’s moving his feet and plays with that kind of jump, the deficiencies in his skating are less apparent.

Glad he finally got a chance to play with Blake Coleman. I’ve been waiting for this pairing all season. Monahan needs a winger who can play a real uptempo, high pace game and Coleman fits that bill. Hope people will finally stop trashing Trevor Lewis too as the two plays he made were imperative to both Monahan and Coleman’s goals.

Monahan being better, even to the point of being "good" last game is maybe the difference between a win and a loss there, honestly. If he can bring quality to the depth of the team, that's huge.

Having a backup goalie looking... really solid... was another obvious factor, but Monahan looking Monahanish really lets the coach do a lot of neat stuff. And if it gets Coleman going for real, wow.

It was certainly the difference against the Ducks.

He will always have elite hands. Once the rest of his body mends and catches up I think he will be back as a major points contributor. I'm going to think positive about his future because after the career he's had as a Flame so far as a fan I owe him at least that much.

Sutter is doing a masterful job of easing Money back in. I just can't say enough good things about the work Coach has done on this team.

If Money is 100% come April that's a better add than almost anything BT could get at the deadline to help this team.

For his salary? No, no he hasn't. If he was making Brad Richardson money, sure.

Holy balls, he earned his damn money every year. There isn't even an alternative reality, where multi 30 goal scorer Sean Mony plays for league minimum.
